Job Details
Scientist 1, Bioanalytical
Help drive Nurix’s drug discovery programs by turning complex biological samples into the high-quality bioanalytical data that guides decisions. You will develop and run LC-MS/MS assays for targeted protein degrader candidates and work closely with pharmacology, chemistry and biology teams.
Position Description
Nurix Therapeutics is searching for a motivated Scientist 1 to join our Bioanalytical team. The successful candidate will contribute to the bioanalytical efforts to support Nurix drug discovery programs involving in vivo and in vitro studies. The primary responsibility will be to conduct quantitative bioanalysis for in vivo samples. The scope of the daily responsibilities for this position includes, but is not limited to, developing bioanalytical methods, quantitating drug candidates and their metabolites, endogenous biomarkers in biological matrix (e.g. blood, plasma, tissues, tumor, CSF, etc.), and reporting high-quality data. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in bioanalytical method development and sample analysis using LC-MS/MS and other analytical techniques.
The Opportunity
Provide bioanalytical support for in vivo PK, PK/PD, efficacy studies, non-GLP toxicology and in vitro studies
Conduct bioanalytical method development and qualification to support drug, metabolite and biomarker analysis
Independently develop LC-MS/MS methods to quantitate small molecules in in vitro and in vivo samples and execute sample analysis
Independently operate, troubleshoot and maintain LC-MS/MS and analytical equipment
Participate in multidisciplinary project teams and partner closely with other departments, including pharmacology, chemistry and biology to understand bioanalytical needs for PK support
Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks
Ability to think and plan strategically, and excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
What You’ll Bring
BS or equivalent with 10 or more years’ relevant experience, or MS with 6 or more years’ relevant experience, or PhD with up to 4 years’ relevant experience working in a discovery setting using quantitative LC-MS/MS within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company
Demonstrated experience in small molecule biomarkers as well as drug candidate bioanalytical assay development/sample quantitative analysis in complex biological matrices using LC-MS/MS
Proven experience running and troubleshooting LC-MS/MS-based quantitative workflows on Sciex platforms and software
Excellent written, verbal communications and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external partners in a matrix environment
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in targeted protein degradation or heterobifunctional degrader platforms
Extensive experience with H/UPLC and mass spectrometry
Extensive experience with sample analysis to support PK, PK/PD, efficacy, distribution, metabolism, and non-GLP toxicology studies
Extensive experience in developing and implementing quantitative LC-MS/MS based assays for small molecules in complex biological matrices
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience reviewing result files and reports from bioanalytical contract research organizations
Experience with maintaining detailed up to date lab notebooks and technical documentation
Salary Range: $141,500 - $175,600
The posted range applies to roles based in the San Francisco Bay Area and reflects local market conditions. Where an offer lands within that range depends on the candidate’s relevant experience, technical expertise, and how their background aligns with the role’s requirements.

Company
Nurix Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule therapies designed to modulate cellular protein levels as a novel treatment approach for cancer and immune disorders. Leveraging Nurix’s extensive expertise in E3 ligases together with its proprietary DNA-encoded libraries, Nurix has built DELigase, an integrated discovery platform to identify and advance novel drug candidates targeting E3 ligases, a broad class of enzymes that can modulate proteins within the cell. Nurix’s drug discovery approach is to either harness or inhibit the natural function of E3 ligases within the ubiquitin proteasome system to selectively decrease or increase cellular protein levels.
Nurix’s wholly owned pipeline comprises targeted protein degraders of Bruton’s tyrosine kinase, a B-cell signaling protein, and inhibitors of Casitas B-lineage lymphoma proto-oncogene-B, an E3 ligase that regulates T cell activation. Nurix is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
