Job Details
Legend Biotech is a global biotechnology company dedicated to treating and, one day, curing life-threatening diseases. Headquartered in Bridgewater, New Jersey, we are advancing the next generation of cell therapy through a portfolio of innovative technologies, including autologous, allogeneic, and in vivo cell therapy approaches. Our research spans chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T), T-cell receptor (TCR-T), natural killer (NK) cell-based therapies, and other emerging platforms designed to transform the treatment of serious diseases. From our global network of research and development sites, we are committed to discovering and developing safe, effective, and cutting-edge therapies for patients worldwide.
Legend Biotech entered into a global collaboration agreement with Johnson & Johnson to jointly develop and commercialize CARVYKTI® (ciltacabtagene autoleucel; cilta-cel). Through this strategic partnership, we combine complementary expertise and capabilities to advance innovative immunotherapies for patients living with multiple myeloma.
Legend Biotech is seeking a Facilities Planning and Digitalization Specialist as part of the Facilities & Engineering team based in Raritan, NJ.

The role partners with Maintenance, Metrology, Scheduling, Operations, Engineering, Quality, eCMMS, Storeroom, Procurement, and external vendors to ensure work is properly prepared, compliance risks are proactively managed, corrective maintenance is effectively coordinated, and work-management processes continuously improve within a regulated manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be a proactive problem solver capable of independently identifying risks and process gaps, coordinating cross-functional solutions, and using work-management data to drive sustainable improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and improve executable work plans for PM, CAL, CM, and other maintenance activities, identifying required labor, materials, tools, vendor support, documentation, access, and operational requirements.
Establish and improve standardized job plans and work packages in partnership with technicians and supervisors, incorporating execution experience and lessons learned to improve work readiness and reduce person-dependent planning.
Review upcoming Maintenance and Metrology workload to proactively identify material, resource, vendor, production-window, and compliance constraints that could impact execution.
Support planning and coordination of maintenance activities, equipment outages, vendor services, and work requiring cross-functional or off-shift support.
Own coordination and scheduling of corrective maintenance activities based on priority, asset availability, resource requirements, and business needs.
Monitor the CM backlog and drive aging, priority, and business-critical corrective work toward execution and closure, escalating barriers and risks as appropriate.
Partner with PM/CAL scheduling resources to evaluate work readiness, workload, resource capacity, and operational constraints to support balanced and executable schedules.
Drive work order compliance through routine review of upcoming, open, aging, due, and past-due work orders; proactively identify risks and coordinate recovery actions through closure.
Lead routine WO compliance reviews with Maintenance and Metrology teams to communicate risks, remove barriers, establish actions, and drive accountability for timely completion.
Review work order documentation and closure practices for completeness, accuracy, timeliness, traceability, and adherence to applicable procedures, GDP, data integrity, and GMP requirements.
Support investigations, nonconformances, CAPAs, audit observations, and inspection readiness by providing maintenance history, work-order data, trends, and work-management expertise.
Assess parts and material requirements and coordinate with Storeroom, Procurement, technicians, OEMs, and vendors to improve material readiness and identify appropriate spare-parts inventory needs.
Partner with the eCMMS team to improve job plans, equipment BOMs, asset master data, PM/CAL records, workflows, and overall work-management data quality.
Analyze Maintenance and Metrology data to identify backlog trends, recurring corrective work, execution delays, workload constraints, compliance gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and maintain practical reports, trackers, KPIs, and workload forecasts to provide visibility into WO compliance, CM backlog, work readiness, resource needs, and maintenance performance.
Drive continuous improvement by identifying systemic work-management issues and implementing sustainable improvements focused on compliance, work readiness, execution efficiency, and overall Maintenance and Metrology performance.
Operates independently in day-to-day work management decisions, including maintenance planning, CM scheduling, WO compliance, materials coordination, and process improvements. Decisions are expected to improve on-time WO completion, reduce overdue/aging backlog, improve work readiness and schedule execution, and strengthen data/documentation quality. Management or functional approval is required for significant GMP, procedural, budget, resource, or business-impacting decisions.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Life Sciences, or related discipline preferred.
Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in facilities, maintenance, metrology, maintenance planning/scheduling, engineering, reliability, or a related technical function.
Demonstrated experience with maintenance work management, including planning, corrective maintenance coordination, work order lifecycle, and backlog management.
Experience with eCMMS platforms such as IBM Maximo, SAP PM, or equivalent.
Working knowledge of preventive maintenance, calibration, corrective maintenance, spare parts/material planning, and work order compliance.
Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination skills.
Working knowledge of GMP, GDP, data integrity, deviations/nonconformances, CAPA, and audit/inspection read.
Experience with Power BI, Power Query, or similar data-analysis/reporting tools.

Company
Legend Biotech was founded as an early-stage cell therapy company in 2014. The company was the brainchild of visionary scientists who recognized that antibody-based therapeutics could potentially treat disease and possessed the backgrounds in immunology and gene editing to take the leap.
For two years, Legend Biotech, then known as the “Legend Project,” operated in a room the size of a freight elevator, with the goal of creating a cell therapy for multiple myeloma, a hematological cancer that often relapses and can become refractory. The team produced nanobodies for single-domain antibody drugs and ultimately extended the half-life of the nanobodies with proprietary technologies.
In 2015, Legend’s scientists focused on research for chimeric antigen-receptor T-cells (CAR-T) targeting the BCMA protein, making the biotech one of the first companies in the world to engineer CAR-T cells for the BCMA protein. In 2016, investigator-initiated trials began in China.
In 2017, data from the trials were presented at the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), which led to a partnership with biopharmaceutical company Janssen Biotech, Inc. to co-develop the anti-BCMA CAR-T, ciltacabtagene autoleucel (cilta-cel). Applications seeking approval of cilta-cel for the treatment of patients with RRMM are currently under regulatory review by several health authorities around the world. CARVYKTI™ (ciltacabtagene autoleucel) was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in February 2022 and received conditional marketing approval from the European Medicines Agency in May 2022.
Today Legend Biotech is a global, commercial-stage company driven by a passion for patients. We continue to build our pipeline of cell therapy platforms, which includes CAR-T, CAR-NK, CAR-γδ T and non-gene-editing CAR technologies.
Our goal is to bring hope and opportunity to patients and their families by continuing to explore unique technologies.
