The Commercial Cell Culture Development team at Sanofi is seeking a motivated Co-op student to support upstream bioprocess development activities. This role offers hands-on experience in optimizing mammalian cell culture processes for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, contributing directly to Sanofi's mission of delivering life-changing medicines to patients.

Main Responsibilities:
Design, execute, and analyze cell culture experiments to optimize upstream bioprocess parameters, including media, feeds, and process conditions.
Support development and optimization of perfusion-based cell culture processes, including evaluation of cell retention devices and process control strategies.
Contribute to the development and qualification of scale-down models that are representative of manufacturing-scale bioreactors.
Evaluate and characterize sparger designs and their impact on cell culture performance, including gas transfer, shear stress, and foam formation.
Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data; prepare clear technical summaries and presentations for team review.
Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and documentation in compliance with department policies.
Collaborate cross-functionally with process engineering, analytical development, and manufacturing teams.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to scientific discussions.
Technical Skills: Foundational knowledge of cell culture techniques, bioreactor operation, and bioprocess principles.
Lab Skills: Experience with aseptic technique, cell viability assays, and basic analytical methods (e.g., glucose/lactate measurement, cell counting).
Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, JMP, or equivalent).
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present data clearly.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD program in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology, or a related field.
Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the Internal requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the duration of the co-op/internship.
Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday to Friday for the full duration of the co-op/internship.
PreferredQualifications:
Strong interest in perfusion-based bioprocesses, an area where Sanofi is an industry leader.
Exposure to or familiarity with AI/Artificial Intelligence tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborative, cross-functional work.
Analytical and problem-solving mindset suited to process design, evaluation, and optimization.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is$32 -$57 hourly. All compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience.
