We are looking for a proactive, results-driven Media Relations Specialist to join our remote team.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Media Relations Specialist with 2–4 years of PR/communications experience—or a "recovering journalist" looking to translate newsroom expertise into strategic communications. In this role, you will play a key part in crafting compelling stories, building relationships with top-tier healthcare and tech journalists, securing high-impact coverage for our clients, and keeping a pulse on the evolving media landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Account Support: Collaborate with internal teams to deliver consistent media wins, support client strategy sessions. Assist media leads with large retainer clients. Lead PR efforts on short term projects. Assist media leads with tasks including: research, outreach, pitch creation, reporting, client deliverables, etc

  • Proactive Pitching: Build and execute targeted pitching strategies across digital, print, and broadcast outlets to secure earned media coverage and client interviews.

  • Media Monitoring & Analytics & Reporting: Track news coverage across traditional and digital channels, evaluate media trends, measure campaign reach, and draft client performance reports.

  • Trend Spotting & Newsjacking: Continuously monitor industry news in health and tech to identify real-time commentary opportunities for clients.

Desired Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.

  • Experience: 2–4 years in healthcare communications, agency experience, or background as a working journalist/reporter looking to make the switch to PR.

  • Writing & Communication: Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a sharp eye for AP style, GEO-driven content, and headline hook creation. 

  • Healthcare and/or Tech Acumen: Familiarity with—or strong interest in—health tech, digital health, and technology sectors, including the ability to simplify complex concepts.

  • Networking & Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building skills with a proven track record (or demonstrated ability) to foster connections with reporters, editors, and producers.

  • PR & Media Tools: Experience using media databases and monitoring platforms (e.g., Cision, Muck Rack, HARO/Qwoted) is highly desirable.

  • Self-Starter Mindset: Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple client priorities in a fully remote work environment.
