About the Department                                                                                                                                               

You will be joining Fill & Finish Expansions (FFEx), which is responsible for all major expansion activities within aseptic production, solid dosage forms, finished products, fill & finish warehousing, and QC across all production areas in Product Supply. The area is anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT, which globally employ approx. 20,000 of Novo Nordisk’s 50,000 employees.

 

FFEx is a newly established and growing area with the responsibility to design, plan, and build all new aseptic filling capacity across Novo Nordisk to serve the needs of millions of patients. We do it by rethinking our production facilities with the use of modern technology, as we are setting the standards for the aseptic production of the future. Facilities designed today which we will still be proud of 20 years from now. FF Expansions has a global approach, where you will be working with multiple sites and cultures across the world.

The Position

Lead tactical & long-term strategic activities to drive process & technical improvements within respective department & ensure technical & maintenance standardization across teams, including production & warehouse areas based on assigned site and department. Will support respective department technologies, which may include bulk, packaging, filling, formulation, & other production maintenance areas as well as Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems, Automated Guided Vehicles, Autonomous Mobile Robots, & other technologies utilized for an automated Warehouse.

Essential Functions

  • Coach & mentor direct reports
  • Develop long-term technical & process improvement plans
  • Ensure robust processes are in place to exceed all quality objectives, specifications, & requirements and drive process performance to meet business & customer needs
  • Champion the systematic problem solving (SPS) process
  • Process confirmation of technical & maintenance standards
  • Drive technical & maintenance standardization & collaboration across teams
  • Ensure collaboration across sites via applicable process groups
  • Ensure completion of high-level projects & investigations
  • Owner of departmental master plan for technical improvements
  • Process group responsibilities representing the site & contributing globally to better/best practices & projects for manufacturing efficiency & compliance
  • Lead technical teams comprised of Engineers, Technicians and Operators
  • Act as a liaison, partner and lead to technical vendor partners.  Collaborate with technology vendors and partners to identify, evaluate and implement the best solutions for technical needs
  • Maintain, develop & enforce department technical procedures/SOP’s according to cGMP’s
  • Develop, implement & maintain strategy for training & development of the technical team
  • Equipment lifecycle management to include coordination of shut down activities
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role.)

     

    Development of People

    Supervisory

    Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.

     

    Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.

     

    Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

     

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field of study from an accredited university required
  • May consider an Associate’s degree in engineering technology or related field of study from an accredited university with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or maintenance required, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • May consider a High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of nine (9) years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or maintenance required, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or maintenance required; preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience in engineering, manufacturing, or maintenance required, preferably in a pharmaceutical or other regulated environment
  • May consider three (3) years of project lead experience which included providing daily direction to the project team and accountability for ensuring completion of project in alignment with timelines and budget
  • Experience driving process improvements/design using systematic methodologies, LEAN & Six Sigma strongly preferred
  • Knowledgeable in high-speed, automated filling, formulation, assembly, packaging or warehouse systems & technologies required
  • Knowledgeable in aseptic, bulk tablet manufacturing, finished or warehouse processing required
  • Deep understanding of automation preferred
  • Strong understanding of SAP preferred
