In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains.  Our newer Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) facility in Clayton, NC sits on 825,000 square-feet of state-of-the-art equipment, and houses the Fermentation, Recovery and Purification in the production of ingredients for Novo Nordisk’s innovative oral products.  At API, you’ll join a global network of manufacturing professionals who are passionate about what they do.

The Position

Support Head of Project Management Office (PMO) in driving key priorities across the project organization, including supporting Senior Leadership Team on execution & in initiating & maturing initiatives until line-of-business can assume ownership. Act as sparring partner to more junior PMO colleagues. Complete assigned projects & project tasks within cost, quality & schedule requirements.

Reports to Senior Project Manager, PMO.

 

Essential Functions

  • Support executive decision making (Senior Leadership Team, Steering Group) including preparation & follow up on actions
  • Drive key ongoing project priorities such as development of Operating Model, Project Governance, contract negotiations, etc
  • Drive & support cross project activities by coordinating with Senior Leadership Team members & Project Managers regarding communication, cross project activities etc
  • Initiate, develop & lead initiatives until line-of-business can take over responsibility for setting up reporting, dashboards, planning exercises, etc
  • Lead preparation of team events such as all-staff off sites & Senior Leadership Team off sites
  • Lead decision making activities & provide flexible ad hoc support with short notice
  • Perform all work in accordance with applicable SOPs, cGMPs, corporate standards, state & federal laws/regulations
  • Responsible for adherence to mechanism for monitoring project progress, intervention & problem solving with other line managers or personnel
  • Responsible for communications to management & other units

    Physical Requirements

    May move equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. May be required to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May required corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. May require the ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protections.

     

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, business management, project management, or related field of study from an accredited university required
  • Master’s degree in related field of study preferred
  • With P&O review/agreement, equivalent combination of education & internal NN business/operational experience may be substituted for degree as appropriate
  • Minimum of 2 years proven experience in project management required, preferably within Tier 1 management consulting, project management of large construction projects or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent project management consulting experience required
  • Understanding of complicated project execution plans, documentation & standard operating procedures with attention to high-level concepts preferred
  • Understanding of manufacturing facilities, equipment, & maintenance is a plus
  • Experience with executive level communications & stakeholder management preferred
  • Basic understanding of contractual documents & ability to create work plans & detailed project schedules required
  • Excellent Excel & PowerPoint skills required
  • Proven expertise in mentoring/development, planning/organizing, managing execution preferred
  • Revising the work plan for complex problems solved by cross functional teams preferred
