Job Description
As Senior Scientist I/II within AbbVie Drug Delivery Sciences, you will work as a key part of a talented, multidisciplinary, and cross-functional team to build cutting-edge capabilities for the delivery of biologics and small molecules and advance new products through early R&D. The ideal candidate must have experience in drug delivery with a solid foundation in organic and polymer chemistry, have outstanding oral and written communication skills, and have the desire and capacity to grow as part of a dynamic, high performing team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, characterization and testing the performance of new sustained release formulations.
- Collaborate and coordinate cross-functional activities with key stakeholders.
- Write technical reports and publish peer-reviewed articles in internal and external journals
- Contribute to AbbVie's patent estate.
- Responsible for compliance with all applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.
Essential Skills and Abilities
- A thorough knowledge of organic chemistry, polymer chemistry and bioconjugation.
- Hands on experience in polymer, protein and biophysical characterization methods.
- Excellent scientific approach and strong problem-solving skills.
- A solid track record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national-level conferences.
- Good interpersonal and team skills.
- An ability to operate in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- A desire and capacity to learn, drive continuous improvement, and develop novel solutions to problems.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Masters Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience, PhD and typically 4 years of experience. PhD in Chemistry is preferred
- Candidates must have 4 year of industry experience
- Experience in the design and early-stage development of sustained release formulations for biologics and/or small molecules is required
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
