The Position

As a senior member of the Advanced Analytics & Innovation Team (within Enterprise Data & Advanced Analytics), this role conceptualizes, defines, delivers and manages advanced data and analytics solutions and programs for the NNI organization. Manages a small team of data scientists that work across the NNI organization to deploy advanced analytics capabilities that enable critical business processes and decisions, often modernizing/digitalizing organizational processes such as promotional orchestration (Next Best Engagement) and segmentation/dynamic targeting. Provides expert-level knowledge on AI/ML and statistics, as well as key data resources (e.g., Patient data, LAAD, Veeva, and other). Has deep experience with advanced statistical and machine learning methods and applies them directly to deliver solutions or provides consultative input on projects managed elsewhere internally or at vendors.

 

Relationships

Reports to the Senior Director, Advanced Analytics & Innovation. Works closely across the entire NNI organization but especially with Commercial Strategy & Marketing and Sales. Partner directly with mid-level and senior colleagues in Marketing, Sales, Finance and Market Access. Collaborates with IT as required to build, deploy, and manage (in production) successful capabilities built on AI/ML (both analytical and generative AI).

 

Essential Functions

  • Works with LoB stakeholders and partners to identify and/or define advanced analytics/ML opportunities, determine appropriate datasets and algorithms, identify patterns and formulate solutions, experiment and deliver analytics and models
  • Drives the development and delivery of innovative data and analytics solutions and services response to business requirements and priorities. Areas of focus will include, but not be limited to Next Best Engagement programs, dynamic targeting, and other services that streamline and enhance (via predictive and/or prescriptive analytics and advanced statistical methods) NNI processes
  • Explores and introduces new data driven approaches to generating insights and solutions to address business issues
  • Works with other ED&AA team members, IT and data engineers to acquire and transform datasets (e.g., omnichannel promotion data, IQVIA LAAD, etc.) that deliver critical capabilities and business insights. Defines and creates metrics that measure program benefits and performance
  • Oversees consultants and/or models to deliver AI/ML programs and capabilities
  • Serving as an internal expert on advanced analytics and statistical analysis in support of organization-wide project and programs. Maintains knowledge of “best practices” in pharmaceutical AI/ML opportunities and algorithms
  • Provides guidance and QC oversight to more junior team members, and colleagues across NNI areas in use and delivery of analytics and analytical tools

    Physical Requirements

    10-20% overnight travel required.

     

    Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in related field (data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, operations research, quantitative MBA, or similar) with 8 years’ experience required.
  • Experience AI/ML-based solutions and programs is highly desirable
  • Ability to lead without authority/reporting relationship required
  • Analytical and/or technical proficiency at analyzing large data sets to derive insights
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, environment, with a quality control focus and a documentation orientation
  • Creative problem-solving with ability to solve complex unstructured problems; see opportunities through
  • Experience analyzing pharmaceutical data, specifically Xponent, Xponent PlanTrak, and LAAD data is required. Experience with data visualization tools desired
  • Innate intellectual curiosity, demonstrated desire to take initiative, and ability to think creatively to solve Outstanding team- and client-facing communication skills
  • Proven experience in project management skills and quantitative analysis skills required. Experience managing a small team, including their professional development, is highly desired
  • Relevant consulting experience can be substituted as deemed appropriate
  • Statistical programming experience (SAS, R, Python) desired
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as in teams
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills required
