The Position

The Associate Director, Communication Ops is responsible for driving cohesive messaging and effective internal P&O communication initiatives across NNI P&O teams. The primary focus of this role is to create and implement processes, templates, and digital tools to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration, thereby fostering a unified visual identity and supporting the communication needs of P&O initiatives. This position plays a critical role in fostering effective communication, driving alignment, and amplifying the impact of P&O for internal teams and stakeholders. The incumbent will be pivotal in ensuring that key timebound initiatives within the organization receive clear and consistent communication, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the P&O function.

 

Relationships

This position reports to the Director of People Operations and sits within the larger Strategy & People Operations team. This position interacts and supports P&O COEs and the P&O Leads for tracking, planning, and mapping of key messaging. This role will partner closely with the HRBP for P&O, P&O Strategic Advisor, Head of NAO P&O, Director of Operations, DEI&B/ Culture teams and NAO P&O Teams. This role will also partner heavily the enterprise Communications partner for P&O for coordination of messaging.

 

Essential Functions

  • Communication and Alignment
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive communication tracker for all NAO P&O teams, ensuring prioritization and cohesive messaging across the entire P&O function
  • Lead the implementation of the communication plan for NAO P&O, aligning it with strategic initiatives and collaborating with internal stakeholders to address communication needs timely & effectively
  • Collaborate and align with enterprise communication partners to ensure consistency and coherence in messaging, thereby fostering a unified visual identity for the P&O function
  • Create and deliver executive presentations, memos, reports, storyboarding, and messaging for the P&O organization, ensuring clarity and alignment with organizational objectives
  • Template Development
  • Spearhead the development of comprehensive templates for various purposes such as strategic planning, talent review, promotions, and market adjustments, ensuring consistency and clarity in communication across the P&O function
  • Act as the primary owner and creator of department-wide templates to ensure a standardized and cohesive approach to communication materials within the P&O function
  • Create process for utilization of templates, SharePoint, Viva Engage & mailboxes for key communications
  • Operational Coordination
  • Take charge of managing the mailbox for EE and P&O teams, working closely with teams to establish efficient processes, permissions, and a sustainable plan for mailbox usage across P&O
  • Develop and communicate processes to maintain a unified calendar across each P&O team, ensuring seamless alignment and coordination of activities to support the organization's overarching objectives
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their communication needs and ensure that communication initiatives are aligned with their requirements
  • Collaborate with enterprise communication partners to ensure consistency in messaging and coherence in approach, fostering effective communication across the organization

    Physical Requirements

    10% overnight travel required. This is a Home Office-based position. This position follows all NNI guidance for remote/in office dedicated time. EST time-zone hours.

     

    Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree required in journalism, public relations, English or a related communications discipline: relevant experience may be substituted for degree as appropriate
  • 10+ years of progressively increasing communications experience required
  • Minimum of 4 years pharmaceutical experience preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years in support/analytics roles of low to medium complexity preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate business acumen and work across all levels of the business
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and counseling, executive/leadership communications, employee engagement programs, business and news writing, and communications measurement
  • Expert ability to lead content strategy, key message development, conversational writing and editing for both internal and external audiences as required
  • Proven ability to effectively manage projects and influence individuals, teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to counsel and coach executives for internal and external communication needs
  • Ability to work under tight timelines, in what can be a stressful environment with limited planning or preparation
