The Role
The Medical Lead, IDN Strategy is a senior leadership role responsible for setting and executing Moderna’s strategic direction within the top U.S. Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs). This role is pivotal in ensuring the alignment and integration of field medical activities and implementation science to support Moderna’s mRNA-based therapies and vaccines. The Medical Lead will oversee the Regional Field Medical team and the Senior Director Implementation Science, Field Medical, ensuring cohesive execution of scientific engagement, interventional program implementation, and stakeholder relationship management at the highest level.


This role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Commercial, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Pharmacovigilance teams, as well as external partners across the U.S. healthcare ecosystem. The Medical Lead will champion digital innovation, align global and U.S. strategies, and drive measurable outcomes to enhance healthcare delivery and public health impact.


Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Leadership and Strategic Oversight:

  • Lead and align the strategic efforts of the Regional Field Medical team and the Senior Director, Implementation Science, Field Medical, ensuring seamless collaboration and execution of IDN-focused strategies and Thought Leader engagement.

  • Establish a cohesive vision for medical engagement and interventional program implementation across IDNs, driving alignment with Moderna’s broader Medical Affairs goals and strategies.

  • Serve as a strategic thought leader, advising on best practices in integrating behavioral interventions and medical engagement into the U.S. healthcare ecosystem.

  • Implementation Program and Field Medical Engagement:

  • Guide the development and implementation of Scientific Engagement Plans to support IDN strategy and Thought Leader engagements, aligning them with Moderna’s scientific and strategic objectives.

  • Leverage insights gathered from key healthcare stakeholders to inform and shape organizational decision-making and evidence generation efforts.

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with scientific leaders, healthcare networks, policymakers, and public health organizations within U.S. IDNs.

  • Act as a key representative of Moderna’s Medical Affairs team, effectively communicating the scientific merit and public health impact of Moderna’s mRNA-based technologies.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Medical, Commercial, Regulatory, Clinical Development, and Pharmacovigilance teams to ensure alignment of IDN strategies and integrated evidence generation.

  • Drive cross-functional integration of implementation program insights and field medical strategies to maximize impact across healthcare systems.

  • Champion Digital Innovation:

  • Promote a “Digital First” mindset across field medical and implementation science teams, leveraging innovative tools to enhance engagement with healthcare stakeholders.

  • Ensure the effective use of digital platforms to simplify complex scientific narratives and extend the reach of Moderna’s scientific communication efforts.

  • Compliance and Ethical Standards:

  • Uphold the highest standards of compliance and ethical conduct across field medical and evidence generation activities.

  • Oversee team adherence to compliance frameworks, including the management of adverse events, product quality complaints, and investigator-initiated studies.


Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD, or MSc).

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in Medical Affairs, with a strong focus on field medical leadership and real-world evidence generation.

  • Proven success in leading senior-level teams and integrating strategies across multiple medical affairs functions.

  • Expertise in the U.S. healthcare ecosystem, including public health organizations, and large healthcare systems such as IDNs.

  • Strong experience in Thought Leader management and record in implementation science with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.

  • Availability and willingness to travel as needed in support of team and organizational objectives
