Job Details
Plans, monitors and manages internal projects from initiation through completion. Secures required resources, and uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes. Manages projects to ensure on-time completion according to specifications and within budgeted costs.
Responsible to ensure effective management of complex, cross-functional high value projects, and leads diverse project teams, especially in the Plasma Portfolio. Leads project teams to deliver intended value and benefits, aligned with CSL strategic and operational priorities, on time, within budget and according to performance specifications. Responsible for initiating, defining, planning, implementing, and closing out assigned projects.
The RoleProject Leadership
Effectively leads and manages projects, especially in the Process and Technology Portfolio, in alignment with CSL strategic and operational priorities.
Lead projects from requirements definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, and implementation plans, including risk mitigation.
Motivates the project team to achieve project objectives through successful completion of project tasks.
Effectively prioritizes and coordinates the activities of the team.
Creates a temporary performance (matrix) environment enabling peak performance by team members.
Arbitrates and resolves issues, conflict, and interface problems within the project team. Works closely with the Sponsor, Steering Committee and management/functional leaders to overcome obstacles to project success.
Technical Expertise and Business Advocacy
Consults with Global Process Owners and Leaders to assure implementation of leading practices as appropriate.
Effective project management for process/technology-related activities and understanding of related dependencies.
Effective vendor management, especially related to technology, e.g., systems integrators.
Appropriate awareness of process/technology content areas, including:
o Business process mapping and engineering.
o Design, specification, testing and delivery of technology solutions.
o Data conversion and migration including interface identification.
o Documentation: technical and end-user documentation.
Project Communication and Change Management
Assures effective business transformation related to assigned projects, including training and user adoption of related process and technology solutions. Use of effective Change management processes, e.g., stakeholder analysis, impact study, presentations, workshops, and communication.
Collaborates with Global Process Owners and Leaders to define and deliver on expected project deliverables and value.
Identifies and collaborates with Subject Matter Experts with the requisite capabilities to support project definition and planning and as required to successfully complete the project work.
Assures effective project team and internal/external stakeholder communication, keeping stakeholders informed of progress and issues in order to manage expectations on all project requirements and deliverables.
Assures that project documentation is kept current, clear, and transparent and is communicated as appropriate.
Escalates key decisions, issues, risks, and opportunities as required to achieve project objectives.
Helps to manage and build relationships with external partners, e.g., vendors, as appropriate.
Represents projects at required internal and external meetings to assure that priorities are communicated and understood, and that progress/delays/issues are reported.
Assures compliance with established portfolio, financial and project governance practices and procedures including defined system development methodologies and required quality standards.
Project Initiation
Assures that project ideas assigned are well characterized and appropriately documented.
Assures that project ideas presented are aligned with CSL strategic and operational priorities.
Project Definition
Obtains agreement on project objectives (value/benefit).
Assures the analysis and scoping of user requirements and leading practice.
Identifies and effectively organizes work required to deliver the value/benefit.
Identifies project resource requirements and project costs.
Assists in developing/defending the business case in collaboration with Sponsor.
Project Planning
Identifies and negotiates with management and stakeholders to obtain approval for securing project team members required to complete the work of the project.
Develops project schedules with timelines and interdependencies for all tasks and the identification of key milestones.
Assures appropriate identification and assessment of risks and opportunities. related to the project.
Implementation and Delivery
Ensures assigned projects are implemented on time, budget and within CSL Plasma Quality, Safety, and Regulatory compliance.
Identify and implement appropriate implementation or deployment teams
Project Tracking and Closeout
Monitors project planned Time, Cost and Performance against actuals and identifies variances where they exist and reports on status as required.
Assures that financial aspects of the project are properly managed.
Monitors for effective use of resources (human capital and other resources).
Assures that all identified changes to project tasks and outcomes are appropriately and effectively managed and approved.
Assures effective issue, risk, and opportunity management in order to protect the project plan and maximize delivered value.
Assures that the project is closed out properly following completion, including summary reports and lessons learned.
Supports value realization efforts throughout the project and at closeout.
Overnight travel, both nationally and occasionally internationally required up to 75% of the time.
Your skills and experienceEducation
University degree or equivalent related work experience; educational concentration in a related technical or industry-related subject is preferred.
Experience
Experience leading single department/site-based projects, especially in technology and/or process-related areas.
