Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

Responsibilities:
The Associate Director, Financial Communications and Corporate Initiatives, in partnership with the Senior Director of Corporate Communications, will plan and develop communications strategies and tactics related to quarterly earnings, external meetings and events, corporate business development and other enterprise-wide initiatives.
A skilled communicator with meticulous attention to detail, the Associate Director of Financial Communications and Corporate Initiatives should understand concepts critical to financial reporting and ensure all communications are clear, consistent and aligned with the company’s messaging.
They will navigate a highly matrixed structure and expertly collaborate with colleagues across multiple areas and routinely interact with business unit leaders.
Key Objectives/Deliverables
Drive external communications strategies and tactics, including the quarterly press release and other derivative communications, to support quarterly earnings reporting.
Establish and maintain relationships with media to improve the company’s visibility and reputation.
Drive external communications strategies and tactics in support of Corporate Business Development, which includes considerable acquisitions and/or Lilly investments.
Review and provide feedback on business partner-developed communications materials to ensure Lilly’s role and/or support is accurately collected.
Lead communications planning and execution around other corporate initiatives or announcements as assigned.
Develop and implement executive visibility plans for the Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel in collaboration with Enterprise Communications.
Respond, craft and vet responses related to incoming media requests related to business development and financial reporting in collaboration with key internal stakeholders.
Develop media briefings and talking points for key interviews.
Identify ways to improve processes and create efficiencies to deliver maximum results across Global Communications.
Stay informed of external environment and flag relevant news coverage and issues that may impact this work.
Organize and develop media trainings for Lilly executives.
Partner with and provide direction to external agencies, including collaboration on development and execution of strategies, deliverables, and issues management.
Track metrics and use analytics to measure results, adjust tactics and content to continually improve.
Basic Qualifications/ Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, communications, journalism or related field.
5+ years of experience in a finance or external communication role.

Effective project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, multi-task and make appropriate trade-off decisions.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with quick learning capabilities.
Ability to be a flexible team player, act quickly and meet deadlines with the highest ethical and business standards.
Shown ability to be innovative and creative, and knowledgeable about new communications trends.
Proven track record in providing strategic, persuasive and appropriate communications counsel.
Ability to handle issues and remain calm under pressure.
Vast project management capabilities that include process development and improvement, communications of standard processes, and measurement.
