Tech at Lilly LRL (Lilly Research Laboratories) unites science with technology to accelerate Lilly’s pipeline and deliver therapeutic innovations. As a member of the Tech at Lilly LRL organization, you will have the opportunity to work in highly technical and fast paced team in a scientifically challenging area responsible for business relationship management and IT solution and service delivery to support an ever-changing research and development environment for LRL Product Development --Synthetic Molecule Design & Development (SMDD), Bioproduct Research & Development (BRD) and Delivery Devices & Connected Solution (DDCS).
What You'll Be Doing:
This role will be responsible for engaging with a team of versatile professionals working on multiple engagements and implementation projects across the PR&D portfolio. You will partner closely with our area architect to ensure area design decisions, as well as Lilly standards are being adhered to. You will be a technical accelerator, working across development teams to solve complex problems as they arise. In this position you will have a bird’s eye view across the PR&D tech landscape and will be able to offer improvements or bring risks up freely. The ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements in a complex, highly scientific workspace is a must.
You will be using strong problem solving and analytical skills and are highly adaptable to changing circumstances. You must have a passion for collaboratively developing solutions across teams. You will work closely with our architect to enforce design standards and principles. At times, this will be a hands-on role with development responsibilities across multiple critical PR&D applications. You will be heavily involved in the WBWD (Win Big with Data) Program.
Key responsibilities include partnering with area architect to drive the development of key applications within PR&D mentor and coach other developers within the area; solve complex technical problems that teams are facing, often acting as part of a spike team; drive DevOps best practices within PR&D.
How You'll Succeed:
- Collaborate within PR&D product teams and WBWD pods to help resolve technical blockers and provide guidance when needed.
- Understand PR&D’s tech platforms/capabilities and be flexible/knowledgeable enough to help drive development.
- Mentor team members for real time upskilling.
- Collaborate and share information with PR&D team by participating in various Tech at Lilly communities of practice.
- Understand the importance of keeping our systems and data secure and private. You work with your product team as well as security and privacy experts to ensure our use cases are appropriate and follow all best practices.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate key risks inherent to any dependencies your workflows have on teams who develop, support, use, and/or assist with the lifecycle of our programs.
Your Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT or equivalent field.
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps and full-stack development.
Additional Preferences:
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills and highly adaptable to changing circumstances.
- Strong understanding of Cloud Systems and DevOps best practices
- Resourcefulness and ability to devise creative, yet feasible solutions to business problems.
- Ability to anticipate future issues and address proactively.
- Knowledge of DevOps best practices, quality, regulatory compliance, software management and maintenance.
- Experience with architecture and system design in a cloud environment
- Experience with large-scale databases, data movement and analytics tools (e.g., AWS Aurora, Redshift, DynamoDB, S3, Microsoft PowerBI).
- Experience with other AWS technologies such as Lambda, GLUE, S3.
- Experience with Languages such as python and various JS libraries.
- Experience with ITIL v4 processes, framework, and tools that support it (e.g., ServiceNow).
- Strong knowledge of agile practices and agile planning tools (e.g., Jira).
