Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

The Sr. Engineer – Automation will develop, implement, and improve process automation solutions within Indianapolis Device Assembly and Packaging (IDAP). This role requires expertise in production processes, commissioning, qualification, validation, and control system technologies.
Responsibilities:
Safety: Ensure a safe working environment and participate in safety-related activities.
Line Support: Provide first-tier support for automation systems, troubleshoot downtime events, and understand production processes and critical parameters.
Project Implementation: Monitor data for process improvements, ensure compliance with automation strategies, and support site facilities startup and qualification activities.
Technical Contributions: Continuously assess and improve automation systems, manage small projects, and develop validation documentation.
Knowledge Sharing: Participate in team meetings, follow quality policies, and maintain an inspection readiness mindset.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
Two years of relevant work experience in Automation
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Bachelors Degree preferred
Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in control systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) integration into manufacturing equipment.
Knowledge of data flow, S95 standards, and automation code evaluation.
Familiarity with vision systems and other automation technologies.
If applicable, serve as Serialization Technical Process Facilitator (TPF) and local Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Serialization Execution System (SES).
Problem-Solving:
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve automation issues using control system and electrical data.
Project Management:
Experience in managing projects, coordinating with contractors, and delivering on time and within budget.
Compliance:
Develop and maintain validation documentation, ensuring all automation systems are qualified and validated according to cGMP standards.
Create and execute qualification protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) to ensure systems comply with regulatory requirements.
Monitor compliance with AQMS (Asset Qualification Monitoring Strategy) and automation change strategies.
Maintain accurate documentation of all qualification and validation activities.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with automation systems through risk assessments and corrective actions.
Stay current with validation expectations and participate in ongoing training to ensure compliance with Lilly's computer systems quality policies and procedures.
