Job Description
Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated and creative research scientist to join a dynamic team supporting biologics drug discovery. In this role, you will impact projects by leveraging automation technologies to generate and characterize therapeutic proteins. You will develop and then apply the skills required to generate proteins and the corresponding data packages.
A typical production campaign will entail mammalian tissue culture, protein purification, standard chromatography techniques, protein characterization (e.g., MS, SEC), and binding assays (e.g., ELISA and flow cytometry). Our scientists are cross trained, and we strive to cultivate a learning environment to help hone the required techniques. Outside of the lab, you should be comfortable analyzing, documenting and reporting data. As part of the day-to-day, youll present results and ideas to teammates and collaborators. Educational background:
- Associates degree with 0-2 Years of Experience.
Required skills:
- Proficiency with mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique and transfections is essential.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Curiosity and keen ability to engage internal and external scientific leaders in collaborative research.
- An ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with excellent organization and communication skills.
- Efficient in multi-tasking and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred skills:
- Experience with protein purification and analytical characterization techniques (e.g., SEC, MS).
- Experience with molecular biology techniques (PCR, molecular cloning).
- An understanding of protein structure and function.
- Exposure to automation technologies (TECAN, Hamilton) is a plus.
