The Opportunity
CLS Plasma is currently seeking an Operational Excellence Manager reporting to the Director, Operational Excellence. This US based opportunity can work in either our CSL Plasma HQ in Boca Raton, FL (hybrid) or work fully remotely from home (if not within a commutable distance from the office). The travel requirement for this role is up to 75%.
The Operational Excellence Manager is responsible for supporting and implementing approved continuous improvement methodologies, tools and training to assure long-term sustainable improvement and growth for CSL Plasma. This position supports continuous improvement by interacting, educating and coaching employees on proven methods to optimize operational efficiency and enhance the customer experience. The Operational Excellence Manager leads process improvement initiatives by identifying, analyzing, implementing and monitoring improvements; and collaborates with leadership to ensure OE projects deliver intended value. In this role, the Operational Excellence Manager will successfully plan and complete deliverables through strong leadership and effective project management execution.
The Role
Project Definition/Planning:
- Supports OE Director, Corporate Functional Leaders and Plasma Center Staff in the identification of innovative process improvement ideas to optimize operational efficiency, enhance the customer experience, and realize cost benefits/savings.
- Collaborates with OE Director, Functional Leaders and Plasma Center Staff in the evaluation and prioritization of ideas that result in OE projects.
- Provides feedback to Director, Operational Excellence to ensure projects are properly defined and agreed-upon based on established criteria.
Project Execution:
- Leads and coaches’ cross functional teams on continuous improvement methodologies and tools to solve difficult and often complex problems.
- Drives standardized processes and tools to achieve corporate business strategies in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Provides support and guidance in measuring and tracking results via reports and systems to understand and help improve performance.
- Identifies controls to monitor progress associated with the implementation of recommended improvements/changes to ensure gains are sustained.
Data Analysis:
- Provides data analysis support and expertise on Corporate and Center metrics to identify process improvement opportunities, trends, comparisons, relationships and root causes.
- Evaluates reports and data sources to create a user-friendly OE dashboard to manage and monitor key performance metrics.
Building a Culture of Continuous Improvement:
- Fosters a culture of operational excellence by teaching, coaching, encouraging and acknowledging data-driven problem solving.
- Facilitates knowledge sharing and best practices across Corporate and Plasma Center functions.
- Ability to influence others to accept proven practices.
Your Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline (such as Operational Excellence, Business, etc.).
- A minimum of 5+ years' experience in process management.
- Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent certification in continuous improvement tools (Lean, Kaizen, Shingo or equivalent) required.
- Recognized subject matter expert in continuous improvement methods and tools obtained through advanced education and work experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and achieve measurable improvements to operations, financial, and quality performance metrics.
- Strong demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Good presentation skills.
- Solid experience planning, organizing, analyzing and problem solving.
- Able to collaborate with others to the mutual benefit and achievement of the teams.
- Demonstrated experience working with multiple projects simultaneously.
- Successful experience leading and working on virtual teams, working with remote operations and colleagues.
- Working knowledge of FDA regulations including GMP and OSHA desirable.
- Knowledge of the plasma fractionation industry desirable.
Additional Skills & Working Environment
- Strong capacity to effectively listen to and communicate ideas and concepts.
- Fast paced environment – Ability to adapt to fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio). Working knowledge of Minitab, SPSS or similar statistical software.
- Problem solving capabilities.
- Understands complex problems to collaborate and explore alternative solutions.
- Ability to formulate complex and comprehensive materials such as authoritative reports of major scope and impact, etc. and/or to make formal presentations.
- Ability to complete routine forms or conduct routine oral communications.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Walking and standing up to 3 hours.
- Exposure to blood borne pathogens.
- Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions.
