The Position

Establish Investment, Engineering & Sourcing organization in US, leveraging foundations from global unit in Denmark to support the growing investment portfolio in the US related to sourcing and procurement of technical equipment, buildings, engineering services, & IT/Automation. Provide leadership and guidance to the IES US Hub to ensure efficient & reliable procurement processes.

Essential Functions

  • People management of Investment | Engineering & Sourcing (IES), to include people selection, expectation setting, career development, motivation & performance management
  • Oversee & continuously optimize sourcing and procurement of technical equipment, buildings, engineering services, & IT/Automation to support expansion programs
  • Oversee daily operations of the function by directing staff and adhering to company-wide policies, programs and procedures
  • Overall responsible of procurement strategies to ensure compliance with corporate requirements & improvements of cost, quality & delivery of goods/ services purchased
  • Ensure scalability of solutions and understand importance of involving various key stakeholders
  • Leverage existing processes and practices from global IES unit, and adapt / tailor them to local market
  • Ensure impeccable integrity within the sphere of global sourcing, and a balanced and right risk perspective incorporated in decision processes
  • Ensure a coherent execution of sourcing strategies, ensure that right improvement projects are initiated and that our supplier management supports PSQIT’s (Product Supply Quality & IT) aspiration
  • Ensure contract coverage for all goods & services in compliance with best practice standards
  • Ensure procurement processes of supplier selection, development, monitoring & overall supplier management is in accordance with Novo Nordisk, PSQIT & IES
  • Ensure high level of collaboration with corporate functions & direct customer/stakeholders from investment projects and line of business
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (“% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role").

     

    Development of People

    Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.

     

    Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.

     

    Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

     

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, IT, or related field from an accredited university required
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in finance, materials management, procurement or related functions required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory/management experience leading other leaders required, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership skills preferred
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills required
  • Excellent presentation skills required
  • Excellent process improvement & problem-solving skills preferred
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office required
  • Organization/Planning: Ability to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets
