Position Summary: Terray is currently seeking a motivated and creative synthetic chemist to join our growing medicinal chemistry group. In this interdisciplinary role, the candidate will work closely with CDS (Computational and Data Sciences) and Medicinal Chemistry to synthesize analogs in hit-to-lead campaigns and custom building blocks for focused libraries. The candidate will also be expected to lead efforts in route scouting for key intermediates and API scale-ups as part of lead optimization efforts across several programs. This role will require the ability to work on scales ranging from 10mg to 50g.

The core responsibilities of this position are:

  • Design synthetic routes and make key custom building blocks for focused libraries and parallel chemistry
  • Design synthetic routes and make key intermediates for hit-to-lead and lead optimization campaigns
  • Participate in SAR campaigns for hit-to-lead programs: design synthetic routes to access analogs and execute syntheses
  • Design scalable routes to synthetize key compounds for in-vivo studies in hit-to-lead
  • Design scalable routes to synthetize API (non-GLP) for advanced studies in lead optimization campaigns
  • Work with a team of CRO and internal chemists to trouble-shoot problematic syntheses
  • Introduce new synthetic technologies to Terray’s internal workflows, and showcase a willingness to find creative solutions to synthetic challenges

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or postdoc in organic or synthetic chemistry + 3-6 years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries OR
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in organic or synthetic chemistry + 10-15 years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries
  • Can demonstrate scientific initiative and creativity in multi-step synthesis and/or reaction methodology through primary authored peer-reviewed publications or patents.

Compensation Details: $132,000 - $198,000 (annually) depending on experience; participation in the Company's option plan; 3% retirement safe harbor contribution; fully-paid medical, dental, vision, life and disability benefits.
