Position Summary:
The Physician Leader (M3) will provide medical supervision and oversight of the advanced primary care provisioned to the employee population of Eli Lilly and Co. This role will lead a team of primary care professionals and oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive worksite primary care program with the expectation of growing this function locally and regionally where needed. The Physician Leader will also serve as a medical expert and advisor, ensuring alignment between clinical services and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and medical supervision of clinical personnel, including direct management of advanced practice providers delivering primary care to employees.
- Design and implement a comprehensive, worksite-based primary care program that meets the specific health needs of employees, including preventive care, longitudinal care and chronic condition management.
- Be available for direct patient care when necessary, ensuring the highest standards in clinical services.
- Collaborate with other leaders and serve as a medical subject matter expert (SME) on primary care services and related health initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the department, leveraging advanced primary care models such as Direct Primary Care (DPC) to enhance patient outcomes.
- Sit on the internal employee health leadership team to guide day-to-day operations and long-term strategic growth of the department.
- Provide consultation and support to cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
- Contribute to budgeting, resource allocation, and operational management for the primary care program, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Supervise and mentor the clinical staff, including advanced practice providers, fostering professional growth and ensuring best practices in patient care.
- Ensure compliance with relevant programs and regulations, such as ADA, HIPAA, and OSHA, and participate in related programming as needed.
- Facilitate the expansion of primary care services through strategic partnerships and occasional travel to various worksite clinic locations.
- Evaluate and consult on factors affecting employee health, such as ergonomics, risk reduction, chronic disease management, and other related services.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO from an accredited U.S. medical school.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
- Unrestricted Medical License in Indiana and willingness to purse licensure in additional states and geographies where Lilly has significant employee populations.
- Active and unrestricted DEA license.
- Indiana Controlled Substance License.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a primary care specialty, including experience in starting and managing advanced primary care practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and related technologies.
- Experience with direct supervision of advanced practice providers and/or other medical professionals and people management.
- Proven experience in leadership and management, with strong operational oversight capabilities.
- Familiarity with Direct Primary Care models and innovative healthcare delivery methods.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills with comfort and experience presenting to audiences of varied professional backgrounds via multiple forms of media.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a complex organizational structure.
