Job DescriptionAbout the role:
The Head of Occupational Health and Safety will provide global direction and leadership in the areas of Occupational Health, Safety & Risk Management for the company. Develop and implement programs to ensure Occupational Health and Safety compliance and reduce risk across the company. Lead overall execution of SIF program. Member of the Corporate EHS Leadership team and appropriate compliance and regulatory governance mechanisms and is a Member of Global Engineering extended Leadership Team.
How you will contribute:
Ensure appropriate internal controls and measurement systems are in place to ensure occupational health and safety requirements are being met across the business
Lead development of three year occupational health and safety strategy.
Develop and implement occupational health and safety standards across the company that improve performance, reduce risk and support a learning organization, items may include:
Comprehensive risk assessment process
High hazard management program for the prevention of serious injuries, incidents and fatalities (SIF)
Robust incident identification, reporting and investigation processes
Technical standards development/deployment in contractor safety, occupational safety, process safety
Training for leaders across the company relating to leading safety initiatives and safety culture
When needed, provide technical EHS review and approval of major capital projects and programs
Manages EHS aspects associated with Integrated Facilities Management contracts
Be a role model for Takeda-ism, the Leadership Behaviors and the 4 commitments (PTRB) in everything that is done.

EHS Acumen: Possesses a deep knowledge of standards, best practices, and laws and regulations. Able to translate this knowledge to actionable programs.
Strategic Ownership: Strong delivery of vision, strategy and business alignment, people management, communication, influencing others, managing change
Collaboration: Develops strong relationships at various levels working closely with sites and various internal teams.
Execution: Balances strategic awareness and direction-setting with a focus on achieving consistent tactical and world class results.
Leadership & Communication: Provides leadership to teams across multiple sites including leading matrixed teams (LOC and Plants). Requires excellent interpersonal skills to communicate globally at all levels and manage cross functional stakeholders and leaders to viable conclusion. Maintains positive working relationships externally with regulatory agencies as required.
Decision-making and Autonomy
Systematic approach, detailed when needed and with an ability to provide oversight, standardizations and analyses in a systemic and holistic manner to achieved desired results at a deliberate pace.
Interaction
Serve as the central point of contact for interfaces with third parties/organizations on the subject of operations risk management and safety.
Build effective partnerships with external consultants and others to support processes and programs
Integrate operations risk management into ERM processes
Engage with senior leadership across GMS, R&D, BUs and Commercial Operations to ensure program effectiveness
Provide coaching and leadership to the EH&S teams at OpU/Function/Region and across the safety professionals in the company
Work with various teams across the operating unit, engineering, external supply, supply chain, site leadership teams, etc. Works closely the Corporate EHS to provide input to global standards, processes and DD&T tools, active participation in developing EHS programs across the Company
Innovation
Responsible to know the laws and regulations in the various geographies where the Takeda operates. Overall knowledge of the process and the EHS risks of the process and products.
Complexity
Must be able to work in a complex network, managing priorities from site, network and corporate teams.
Must be able to work across multiple time zones.
What you bring to Takeda:
Essential:Degree in life sciences, engineering, chemical engineering or similar field; 15+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, or manufacturing; previous experience leading teams across global locations; experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, regulatory agencies and vendors; previous experience in program management and demonstrated application of health and safety practices.
Desired:Industry certifications desired (i.e., Chartered Engineer, Certified Safety Professional, Chartered Safety Professional, etc.)
Additional Information:
Ability to travel up to 20%, including International
Must be able to be onsite at Takeda Hub location to meet Hybrid requirements 8 days/month
