Job Details

This position is responsible for data management for the High Throughput Screening Center using established data systems, to capture, process, query and report screening data. Provides relevant software-support for users and assists Supervisor/Manager in meeting project requirements.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Responsible for the upload, maintenance and integrity of compound, plate and biological test data using ActivityBase data management system
• Communicates with Biologists to understand current projects in order to create appropriate, comprehensive and relevant reports for further analysis and decision making
• Responsible for ensuring correct analytic procedures are used when processing raw data; modifies templates and normalization methods appropriately.
• Responsible for generating data analysis reports and for submitting reports to external systems and recipients based on project requirements
• Maintains location tracking for compound samples through multiple plate replications and reformatting processes
• Supports data analysis needs during assay development process including iterative changes to methods and/or reports.
• Queries and generates routine and special reports on all captured data
• Uses judgment within defined practices and procedures
• Promptly completes tasks as assigned by supervisor; is able to prioritize work based on weekly lab meeting discussions
• Attends technical staff and departmental meetings
• Maintains appropriate level of user privileges and security for projects
• Observes appropriate safety and study requirements by reading, understanding, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) where appropriate
• Observes appropriate safety and health practices including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Safe Laboratory Practices (SLP)
• Performs other team related duties as requested by supervisor
 

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications
• BS/BA in relevant scientific discipline and 5+ years of experience transforming/reporting biological data.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills; ability to work both independently and as a team member
• Familiarity with scientific processes and scientific data systems

• Ability to process and analyze data containing variables and to logically format/report that data using general templates
• Ability to understand and apply feedback, tolerate iterative process involved in understanding and improving team goals
• Understanding of database concepts and data management practices.
• Fluent working knowledge of MS Excel
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, ability to prioritize work across multiple projects
• Ability to perform work utilizing a computer for extended periods of time


Preferred Qualifications
• Experience formatting/reporting large scale data sets
• Knowledge of commercial scientific data management software packages including IDBS ActivityBase and Xlfit, Biovia Pipeline Pilot, and Dotmatics
• Demonstrated experience of standard business software packages
• Biological data analysis experience
• Drug discovery experience
