Job Details
Our closed loop system generates precise chemical datasets at unrivaled scale that work seamlessly with AI to systematically map biochemical interactions between small molecules and causes of disease. Iterative cycles of virtual molecular design and experimentation power AI and machine learning models, which in turn guide the next cycle of design. With a chemistry engine that measures billions of interactions daily and becomes increasingly precise with every cycle, we can answer an unprecedented array of questions — deriving insights that enable us to predictably create drugs for patients in need.
Position Summary: Terray Therapeutics is seeking a highly independent, motivated, and creative protein biochemist to join our preclinical team. Ideal candidate will have full responsibility of protein quality control workflows and be a pivotal member in collaboration between our screening and assay development teams. Successful candidate will be expected to be familiar with basic physical properties of targets of interest (based on literature and experimental sources) and play a key role in protein engineering, initial assay development and optimization. This position offers a unique opportunity to have and independent role and be a pivotal part of a multidisciplinary team in the frontiers of drug discovery.
- Protein quality control – Receive and handle internal and external protein targets and assets their quality using techniques such as nanoDSF, TSA, Western Blot, SDS-PAGE and protein activity.
- Biophysical assay development – Assist in full biophysical characterization of protein targets of interest. This process would include biophysical assay development using methodologies such as SPR, MST, ITC, FRET, BRET.
- Protein labeling - Occasionally, assist other departments in protein acquisition as well as perform protein direct labeling using SOPs.
- As needed, this role will be expected to work closely with other teams and provide assistance in assay optimization, development and sample preparation.
- Record experiments in electronic notebook, analyze data and communicate results.
- Support organization of lab and equipment as needed.
- MSc with 3+ years or BSc with 7+ years of industry experience in the field of biochemistry or biophysics.
- Proven ability and experience in handling variety of protein samples is required.
- Hands-on experience with biophysical assay set up, sample preparation and binding data analysis (Kd) is preferred.
- Ability to leverage their industry experience to work independently and drive projects forward.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and can thrive in highly collaborative research environment.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency, attention to detail, ability to troubleshoot to solve problems and to deliver high quality data.
Company
Terray is a biotechnology company with the technology, data, and mindset to radically change the way we discover and develop small molecule therapeutics. We explore molecules and targets broadly and deeply with a sophisticated integration of ultra-high throughput experimentation, generative AI, biology, medicinal chemistry, automation, and nanotechnology. Everything the company does is grounded in an iterative approach, producing massive amounts of precise, purpose-built data that gets increasingly valuable with each cycle of design and experimentation. The company’s platform uniquely blends experimentation and computation to improve the cost, speed, and success rate of small molecule drug discovery and development.
