In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains.  Our newer Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) facility in Clayton, NC sits on 825,000 square-feet of state-of-the-art equipment, and houses the Fermentation, Recovery and Purification in the production of ingredients for Novo Nordisk’s innovative oral products.  At API, you’ll join a global network of manufacturing professionals who are passionate about what they do.

The Position

Responsible for advancement of site security processes/systems. Responsible for the coordination of all aspects (technical and managerial) of executing the security contract in an efficient & cost-effective manner. Review and update procedures and requirements, lead/facilitate site security evaluations and audits.

 

Relationships

Reports to Manager.

 

Essential Functions

  • Negotiate & manage contracts for services while improving value
  • Complete annual security risk review as required by Novo Nordisk Global Security
  • Work to mitigate any security gaps found during security assessments performed either personally or by a Novo Nordisk Regional Security Manager
  • Develop and maintain good working relationship with Novo Nordisk Regional Security Manager for North America
  • Work with Security & Access Controls suppliers to provide security for site perimeter, exterior entrances, critical areas & employee safety
  • Gather and assess threat intelligence pertaining to the campus and utilize that intelligence to position the company for minimal impacts
  • Provide feedback and actionable responses on various security related issues
  • Investigate security/safety incidents on the site
  • Work with Facility Management Lead to maintain good housekeeping of facilities & grounds & proactively audit cleanliness
  • Maintain Facility Management SharePoint site & records
  • Liaise with other security team members such as guards and investigators to coordinate security efforts
  • Ensure appropriate and consistent physical security controls are in place to protect against theft, fire hazards, and other physical threats to assets, employees, and product, according to relevant SOPs
  • Work with Security to establish and maintain monitoring of camera feeds and door alarms in order to detect security breaches or potential crimes
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Access Control Procedures including updating related SOPs as necessary and providing documentation for corporate reporting requirements
  • Responsible for maintaining, updating, and improving key management program, including maintenance of locksets
  • Work closely with technical teams and applications analysts to develop a firm understanding of infrastructure security and templates and will possess or develop a working knowledge of clinical roles to better match security
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties

    Physical Requirements

    Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Ability to be on feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. Occasionally performs critical job functions in extremely cold work environments. Occasionally positions oneself within confined spaces for inspection, repair & maintenance of equipment. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Able to pass a driving exam for powered industrial trucks. Does not require a valid driver's license.

     

    Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • May consider associate’s degree in business, Planning, or a relevant field of study from an accredited university with a minimum of three (3) of Law Enforcement, Security Services, or similar field required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Law Enforcement, Security Services, or similar field required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in contract management required
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification by ASIS preferred
  • Knowledge of security systems required
  • Management of various fulltime contractors preferred
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations a plus
  • Participation in emergency response teams a plus
  • Pharmaceutical experience a plus
  • Excellent communication & writing skills required
  • Experience with MS Office Suite preferred
  • Able to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets preferred
