We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director - Finance Operations & Analytics Transformation to drive strategic transformation within our Finance Data Strategy team. In this high-impact leadership role, you will spearhead the integration of AI and other advanced technologies to revolutionize finance operations. Your focus will be on prioritizing initiatives, rationalizing newly proposed ideas and proof-of-concept projects, and developing scalable solutions to drive innovation and operational efficiency. As a key driver of financial and operational success, you will lead cross-functional collaboration to align finance operations with the organization’s broader business strategies. We are looking for an analytical and structured analytical person and a strong relationship builder that can manage competing priorities in a rapidly growing business.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Finance Operations Excellence:

  • Lead prioritization of finance operations projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals
  • Spearhead the adoption of AI-driven solutions to enhance financial processes, decision-making, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and rationalize POC projects, focusing on scalability, sustainable growth, and value creation.

Data-Driven Financial Management:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize and integrate financial data across systems, supporting data governance and best practices.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators and metrics that align with strategic objectives, providing actionable insights to drive financial and operational success.
  • Support the preparation and execution of quarterly business reviews by providing accurate and insightful financial data, analyses, and recommendations. Collaborate with business units to align on goals and performance metrics.

Organizational Data Literacy & Collaboration:
  • Champion data literacy initiatives within the finance team and across the organization. Facilitate training and develop resources to promote data-centric thinking and the effective use of data in decision-making processes.
  • Work closely with finance and business units as well as senior leadership, to align financial operations with broader business strategies.
  • Establish measurable data quality improvement goals by integrating governance policies, automating validation processes, standardizing data entry, applying advanced cleansing tools, and implementing regular metrics monitoring and audits for continuous improvement.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or IT related field (Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.)
  • Minimum requirement of 5 years in progressive finance operations experience driving business outcomes through innovative IT/Data solutions.
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and/or visas for this role
Additional Preferences:
  • Demonstrated ability to gather requirements and lead successful implementation of complex processes, systems, and capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of finance operations, data management, and financial systems, design thinking, Agile methodology.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Superb communication, leadership, collaboration, and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience in change management and guiding teams through organizational transitions.
  • Demonstrated strong teamwork, communication, leadership, and influence skills.
  • Basic competence in Coding Language (Python, R, SAS, SQL, etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud-based BI platforms and services, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Willingness to challenge and speak up.
