In this vital role as Executive Director, Technology Process Development, you will be accountable for the integrity, security, reliability, and innovation of information technology systems that enable the successful development, design, manufacturing, distribution, and commercialization of Amgen products.
The role involves using digital, technology and innovation to advance Operations strategy in the service of the maxim every patient, every time.
This role requires expertise in Operations digital and IT capabilities, with a focus on process development and biotechnology. In addition, the role will also include teams advancing key enterprise capabilities.
Additionally, extensive collaboration with global teams is required to ensure seamless integration and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the end-to-end software development lifecycle and be a Scaled Agile practitioner, coupled with leadership and transformation experience.
This role demands the ability to drive and deliver against key organizational pivotal initiatives, develop a collaborative environment, and deliver high-quality results in a matrixed organizational structure.
This role will report into Vice President, DTI Operations & Enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Mentor, motivate, develop, and lead a team with varied strengths of Operations & Enterprise IT professionals, fostering a dynamic environment.
Manage the capability development lifecycle for Process Development Technology.
Partner with and ensure alignment of the Amgen Process Development leadership, following global standards and practices.
Lead the delivery and management of a diverse portfolio of projects within the Process Development Technology organization, using proven methodologies to accelerate key initiatives.
Cultivate robust relationships with key partners, including Technology and business leaders, to inspire collaboration and ensure alignment on business and Technology priorities.
Engage with executive leadership to communicate program statuses and outcomes, displaying a clear and compelling story.
Lead the implementation and maintenance of Technology capabilities, ensuring perfect integration, standardization of processes, and compliance with local laws.
Identify and mitigate potential risks related to Process Development Technology systems, ensuring alignment with global data protection regulations and industry standards.
Identify budget requirements for Process Development Technology projects, lead financial processing, and ensure alignment with business goals and financial targets.
Develop a culture of agile innovation within the Process Development Technology team, finding opportunities for process optimization and incorporating innovative technologies to enhance business performance.
Develop and implement strategies for Process Development Technology system implementations and upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions, user adoption, and minimal disruptions to business operations.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree & 6 years of experience in Operations digital and IT capabilities, OR
Masters degree & 10 years of experience in Operations digital and IT capabilities, OR
Bachelors degree & 12 years of experience in Operations digital and IT capabilities, AND
6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications:
Work experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead large matrixed teams
Extensive hands-on experience with Operations (e.g., MES, Delta V, SAP, LIMS) & Enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Veeva, RPA), including multiple full implementation cycles and operational support in leadership roles.
Proficiency in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to Operations & Enterprise systems, ensuring compliance with SOX, GxP standards, and global data protection regulations
Experience using and adopting Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Knowledge of data management principles and the ability to apply Operations data for strategic decision-making, with skills in data analytics and reporting within Operations systems.
Advanced project management skills with a track record of successfully handling complex Operations & Enterprise programs and product teams.
Experience in financial management of large initiatives, including capital and operating expense planning and execution.
Experience in negotiating with vendors, handling vendor relationships, and evaluating software solutions.
Experience in the delivery of projects using Agile/Scrum methodologies, translating business requirements into product backlogs for delivery.
Professional Certifications are preferred:
Project Management Professional (PMP)
SAFe for Teams certification
Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Quality Management Certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
ITIL Certification
SAP Certification

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $252,529 - $302,362,00.
