The Senior Director of US International Tax at Lilly plays a crucial leadership role within the global tax team. The position is responsible for all US international tax matters including strategy, planning, forecasting, tax compliance, accounting, and IRS audit defense.  Responsibilities also include partnering with other tax and non-tax business partners on global international tax matters.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Direct and lead all US International processes, including technical review and oversight of:
    • E&P, FTC, Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, and BEAT computations for forecasting, accounting, and tax compliance
    • US international tax provision for estimated tax payments and quarterly accounting purposes
    • US tax return forms, including the foreign tax credit (Form 1118), foreign affiliate information returns (Form 5471), foreign disregarded entity returns (Form 8858), and other international compliance returns
    • International tax related SOX processes
  • Identify and/or lead international planning projects
  • Collaborate with Global Treasury to manage global cash movements 
  • Integrate business development transactions into international tax accounting and compliance processes
  • Defend international tax positions taken on US income tax returns 
  • Prepare and review responses to tax audit requests
  • Influence and monitor tax policy and legislation related to taxation of Lilly's international operations and implement any compliance changes required by new law or regulations
  • Mentor and develop staff and encourage teamwork environment

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 10 years tax experience to include at least 6 years of U.S. international tax experience
  • CPA certification or equivalent or CPA eligible
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization and/or visas for this role.

Additional Preferences:

  • Knowledge of tax accounting under ASC740 and FIN48
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. international tax laws
  •  Strong skills in tax planning and research
  •  Solid understanding of tax accounting, including ASC 740 and deferred taxes
  •  Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects
  •  Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  •  Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  •  Strong organizational and self-management skills
  •  Juris Doctorate or Master's in Tax
  •  Knowledge of global transfer pricing and other tax laws
  •  Strong leadership abilities
  • Supervision experience

Other Considerations:

  •  Minimal travel required
  •  Overtime may be necessary during peak project times
