The Bioanalytical Research Group (BAR) at Lilly Corporate Center in Indianapolis is seeking a skilled mass spectrometry scientist. The role involves developing innovative methods for assessing therapeutic peptides and small molecule drugs. The team collaborates with toxicology, PK/PD, Biotechnology Discovery Research, and various therapeutic areas to identify and characterize optimal drug candidates for clinical testing across multiple modalities.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and apply LC/MS-based assays using high-resolution instrumentation to quantify and analyze therapeutic peptides and small molecule drugs across various matrices. Responsibilities include stock solution preparation, sample extraction, LC/MS sample analysis, and report writing.
  • Lead and oversee the research activities of laboratory scientists in developing and implementing mass spectrometric assays and new technologies.
  • Authors comprehensive reports and presents clear and concise oral reports of processes and accomplishments.
  • Maintains research notebooks in a well-organized manner where all necessary documentation is recorded.
  • Guide and manage the research activities of lab scientists. Develop and implement mass spectrometric assays and explore new technologies.
Basic Requirement:

Ph.D. in biochemistry/molecular biology, bioengineering, biology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences or chemistry

Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • 3+ years of industry experience in clinical chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences applying mass spectrometric techniques to measure therapeutic peptides and small molecule drugs in formulations and/or biological matrices.
  • A demonstrated record of using high resolution mass spectrometry to perform bioanalysis and structural elucidation of therapeutic peptides and small molecule drugs.
  • Experience with a wide variety of sample preparation techniques including SPE, LLE, PPT, and immunoaffinity/hybridization approaches.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work planning, record keeping, and data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of MS-informatic approaches to interpret complex data sets.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring laboratory personnel.
