The Manager, R&D Finance will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting all financial related activities for oncology clinical studies. The Manager will be providing high quality financial reporting and forecasting information that informs and enables the organization. Required. In addition to the FP&A responsibilities, this position will be expected to provide first response to all general finance related inquiries from DHBL Clinical Operations and Global Program Management. The Manager will need to build close collaboration with the R&D functions as a business partner and provide guidance to effectively manage financial performance and ensure compliance with Eisai policies and procedures and GAAP guidelines. The Manager will also form strong partnership with the other finance partners of clinical studies across DHBL and ADBH as well as the broader North American finance and accounting team and participate in the design, launch and integration of financial and accounting IT systems. This position is viewed as critical in the support of clinical studies within the Deep Human Biology Learning (DHBL).
Essential Functions
- Work with Clinical Ops Leaders and CROs to develop Annual Budgets and Forecasts supported by sound and well documented assumptions. Ensure accurate and timely monthly closing and compliance with GAAP guidelines, including journal entry preparation and posting.
- Ensure proper documentation and reconciliation to substantiate the accruals and expenses for audit purposes.
- General support of finance inquiries such as 1st line tech support of financial systems, vendor inquiries and financial system implementations
Requirements
- BA or BS Degree in Accounting/Finance required. CPA/MBA or big 4 accounting firm experience desired.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or life science industry required.
- 5-10 years of FP&A and Accounting experience required.
- Experience in FP&A, accounting required. Experience in clinical study financial management strongly preferred.
- Progression of experience with cross-functional team environment or business finance partner preferred.
- Ability to quickly ramp up and contribute as a valued and trusted team member.
- Advanced Excel skills required.
- Experienced user of SAP (FI/CO) and Financial Planning tools (STRAVIS, HFM, TM1, Planful)
- Ability to think creatively and critically along with excellent communication and collaboration ability to interface cross-functionally with all levels of staff and management.
