POSITION SUMMARY: 
 
The Director Strategic Alliance Management will play a pivotal role in effectively managing strategic alliances and partnerships with selected external partners to drive growth and maximize the success of the partnership. The role requires a dynamic individual with strong communication, project management, analytical and negotiation skills.  This role will be the primary liaison with selected partners and is responsible for facilitating internal alignment among key stakeholders to ensure productive, consistent and collaborative interactions with selected partners.
 
The Director Strategic Alliance Management provides oversight for joint governance committees, manages fulfillment of obligations to and from the partner and is responsible in collaboration with Corporate Development and Legal for renegotiations or additional agreements with the partner as required.
 
This position has the potential to be fully remote. Travel 25-30%, including some international and required in person meetings.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
·       Manage a broad portfolio of strategic partnerships at all stage of their lifecycle with a focus on mutual value creation.
·       Establish and maintain internal mechanisms to ensure proper governance of partnerships (e.g., aligning partnership objectives and strategy, aligning internal prioritization of activities related to partnership).
·       Manage and oversee financial related matters (e.g., royalty and milestone payments) with support of Finance and Accounting teams.
·       Ensure internal terms understand key partnership inflection points that can drive value as well as partner’s obligations, contractual commitments and key partnership deliverables.
·       Ensure decision making if informed by key contract terms and where appropriate partner’s point of view and other factors that could affect value creation and relationship.
·       Organize and co-lead governance meetings with partners by developing aligned agendas and ensuring key stakeholders’ inputs prior to meetings.
·       Ensure all reporting requirements related to partnership are completed on a timely and regular basis.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
·       BS/BA required; PhD, MS, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
·       Minimum of 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry with strong knowledge of drug development and commercialization activities.
·       A minimum of 5+ years of experience in an Alliance Management role with demonstrated track record of having successfully managed clinical development stage and/or commercial stage alliances.
·       Professional certification in alliance management is desirable.
·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly formulate and articulate decision and actions.
·       Demonstrated ability to collaboratively manage cross-functional teams.
·       A strong legal and financial acumen to fully understand key contractual business terms.
·       Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, with ability to prioritize while balancing many partnerships while maintaining openness to shift priorities and manage the unknown.
·       History of working in complex team environments with diverse stakeholders and ability to build collaborative working relationships throughout all levels of the organization
·       Strong self-motivation and work ethic and ability to work independently and in a dynamic team environment across multiple functional areas

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
 
The salary range for this position is $215,000 to $225,000. Day One considers a range of factors when determining base compensation. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
