Position Description Summary:
The Senior Manager, Congress Planning will lead the logistical planning and execution for Above Market congresses, including management of accommodations and logistics associated with the congress and any ancillary events. They will own and manage the integrated congress project plan and co-ordinate the congress planning team in partnership with the congress owner. Provide subject matter expertise for all congress-related activities to the congress owner and functional leads. Collaborate with congress planners across business units in the delivery of co-led congresses as well as in sharing of best practices and opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.
Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Lead logistical planning and execution of successful congresses including negotiating convention exhibit space, contracts, hotel rooms, hospitality functions and show services; liaising with external professional society planning leads; sourcing and managing third-party vendors for congress execution; on-site ancillary meeting support; and post-congress assessment and recommendations for future.
- Drive delivery of superior performance in congress production, including integrated project plan, timeline, budget and exhibit booth and supporting teams in content re-use.
- Lead development and execution of internal congress communications to TA leaders and cross-functional leaders, congress planning team and internal congress attendees, including registration websites and meeting apps as needed.
- Drive efficiencies across congress planning management, identifying potential for cost-savings, streamlining process, and recommending and supporting implementation of innovative solutions.
- Manage strategic partnerships with exhibit vendors, identifying cost savings opportunities, design modification options and new innovations/ vendors to deliver CSL Behring congress excellence and differentiated customer experience.
- As a COE, consults and shares best practices for congresses with in-market congress planning resources and with colleagues across commercial and the enterprise.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality/ Management or other related field
7+ years’ experience in commercial roles in pharmaceutical/ biotech/ medical device industry, and within this 3 – 5 years relevant experience in planning and execution of congresses
Experience managing multiple events or congresses at one time
Meeting planning certifications (CMP, HMCC) and proficiency in Cvent Event management is highly preferred, PMP certification a plus
Strong interpersonal skills to quickly build rapport and credibility with CSL leaders and key external stakeholders.
Knowledge of relevant business, legal, compliance and regulatory requirements
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building abilities
Familiarity with global regulations and cultural nuances
Travel requirement is 25 – 35% and includes international travel
