Job Details
Worldwide more than 1 billion people have obesity, and the global market for Obesity-related therapeutics is expected to exceed $100B. Regenerons lead program (anti-myostatin) addressing the quality of weight reduction is entering late-stage development and has the potential to have profound impact on patients lives. Regeneron also has a deep pipeline with additional Obesity- and metabolism-related candidates with potential to transform care. To take full advantage of these opportunities, Regeneron will have to execute clinical development and commercial launch for the Obesity franchise at a scale and pace unprecedented at Regeneron in a highly competitive field.
The Global Program Head (GPH) Obesity & Metabolism, will play an integral role in successful late-stage development, global launch, and lifecycle management of our initial programs in Regenerons Obesity franchise. Partnering with Senior leadership and other CVRM GPHs to execute the portfolio, the GPH will lead the late-stage development, strategy, and execution for our lead programs while advising on combinations, sequencing, and integrated portfolio strategy for Regenerons rapidly progressing pipeline. This role requires expertise in obesity and metabolic disorders management, a track record of successful drug development, as well as strong ability to lead cross-functional teams representing almost all areas within the company, including research, non-clinical development, clinical development, regulatory, CMC, medical safety, medical affairs, commercial, finance, legal, BD and alliance management. In partnership with the Program Manager, the GPH is accountable for ensuring operational execution of all phases of development, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, and meeting regulatory milestones. The successful candidate will have a strong ability to define and translate a scientific narrative, extensive experience in overseeing large-scale, complex late-stage programs, and a record of accomplishment of devising innovative development and go-to-market strategies with a patient-centric focus.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Program Development
Build and lead Strategic Program Teams (SPT) to develop long-term, integrated program strategies, target product profiles, and scientific narrative. The GPH is expected to be both advocate and critic of the program and its future development within Regeneron.
Align and drive broader cross-functional perspective in developing program strategies including scientific rationale, operational feasibility, budget, timeline, in the context of the competitive and commercial landscape.
Ensure scientific rigor and innovation drive the program strategy.
Provide feedback on functional strategies including research, clinical, regulatory, supply, and commercial.
Proactively identify new opportunities.
Proactively identifies risks and oversees assessment and mitigation activities.
Program Execution and Governance
Accountable for the quality and execution of SPT deliverables, milestones, and governance interactions.
Oversee and hold sub-teams and their leads accountable for executing the program strategy, development plan, and timelines.
Coordinate the programs progression at key transition points (e.g., submission/launch).
Maintain a full financial perspective of the program budget and future development costs, and actively manage the financial resources of the program.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
Identify and align with key stakeholders across Regeneron and partners, ensuring engagement throughout the program lifecycle.
Prepare team for governance interactions
Prepare and lead SPT meetings, ensuring effective decision-making and communication of key decisions and developments.
Able to effectively represent the program and Regeneron externally, as well as prepare and coach the team on external representation.
Represent Regeneron at joint development committees (where applicable).
Team Development and Coaching
Support the professional development of SPT members.
Promote a culture of scientific rigorous and innovative thinking on the team.
Coach the team to success.
Requirements:
10 years minimum experience with broad drug development experience
MD, PhD, PharmD
Proven leadership in advancing programs through development milestones, approval, and launch in biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies
Deep expertise in clinical development, especially in obesity/cardiometabolic fields; biologics development experience is a plus.
Expert knowledge of the competitive landscape and regulatory requirements for drug approval in the obesity/cardiometabolic space.
Proven ability to build and lead cross-functional teams, map out deliverables, and ensure program progress.
Ability to design, convey, and implement development strategies, anticipate risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
Experience working in a highly matrixed environment and influencing across functional areas.
Ability to rigorously interpret and pressure test various types of data (clinical, preclinical, operational).
Strong analytical abilities and critical thinking skills, capable of presenting to senior management.
Excellent communication skills for reporting plans, options, and outcomes to management, driving decision-making, and translating across functions to build alignment.
