The Position

The purpose of the role is to provide crucial insights on Novo Nordisk, Inc. (NNI) & North America Operations (NAO) performance from a consolidated P&L perspective, including regular reporting to senior stakeholders in NAO and HQ, proactive monitoring of financial impact and market dynamics.

 

Additionally, this role is responsible for driving and coordinating key strategic processes in finance and owning consolidation across NAO. Key processes include but are not limited to the Anchor Budget, Rolling Estimate, quarterly and yearly closing, BRM meetings etc.

 

Moreover, the role is driving process improvements and operational efficiency while supporting the organization's financial analysis and resource allocation. This role is pivotal in delivering insights for informed decision making and ensuring effective and simple communication of complex situations to senior management in NNI as well as HQ.

 

Relationships

Reports to the Senior Director of Sales Reporting and NAO FP&A and works closely together with VP of Finance & Supply Chain. Interacts with all levels of the business and partners heavily with the Finance and Supply Chain leadership team and HQ stakeholders.

 

Essential Functions

  • Together with Senior Director of NNI Sales reporting and NAO FP&A, overall responsible for ownership of managing North American P&L, ongoing operations/reporting, and oversight of strategic projects. Drives transparency and simplicity to empower decisions regarding budget, realization and potential investment options
  • Routinely communicates on overall financial performance of NNI and NAO with focus on linking sales and costs, the overall story and key opportunities and challenges, using appropriate metrics, analysis and reports
  • Brings recommendations and strategic implications to leaders in Finance and Supply Chain to enable consolidation and broader communication of key messages. Frequently interacts with senior leadership on the financial performance
  • Sets direction and leads strategic processes
  • The NNI Anchor Budget process by managing the overall timeline and deliverables to enable consolidation of the NNI and NAO P&L. Partner closely with commercial business partners, G2N, and volume forecast teams to understand and incorporate demand trends, business risks and opportunities into the overall story
  • Coordination of story and material for e.g. BRM, HQ/NAO Finance to Finance meetings
  • Drives Operational Effectiveness and Efficiency in relation to financial processes. Continuously evaluate opportunities to optimize in order to deliver the results in the most effective way. Ensure close cross-functional collaboration within NNI and towards the broader NN organization including IO and HQ to ensure use of best practices for financial management, analysis and forecasting
  • Coaches and develops other team members to ensure sharing of knowledge, involvement and engagement to support best possible organization business partnering

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree within Finance, Business Administration or similar required and MBA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in financial management, reporting or business partnering, preferably with people management /project management experience. Experience from the pharmaceutical industry is an advantage. Relevant experience may be substituted for degree, when appropriate; advanced degree preferred
  • Strong focus on process management, optimization, and structured workflows with high level of proactivity, energy, and ability to drive and complete projects. Must utilize time effectively and set priorities to manage multiple projects with time sensitive deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills with ability to influence stakeholders across the organization. Must be able to understand and define stakeholder needs and translate these needs into clear actions by also utilizing strong understanding of the market
  • Ambitious mindset with a continuous improvement approach and a desire to simplify the way we operate and generate new ideas. Strong ability to condense complicated data to key messages and recommendations
