Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist with expertise in the Cell Screening group to join Nurix’s Research team. Nurix is devoted to unlocking the therapeutic potential of the ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) in oncology, immune-oncology and other therapeutic areas. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the research team responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments related to cellular assay development, screening, and degrader antibody conjugate characterization. This individual will work closely with an experienced team of interdisciplinary scientists and will have regular opportunities to present findings and opinions to project teams and senior management. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, resourceful, very organized and focused, and enjoy working in a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cellular assays and screenings to evaluate protein modulation using cutting-edge technologies and automated workflows.
  • Design and optimize experimental protocols for assays related to targeted protein degrader (TPD) degrader antibody conjugate characterization and optimization.
  • Cultivate and maintain mammalian cell lines.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, troubleshoot technical challenges, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members to contribute to the design and execution of pharmacology studies to assess the biological activity and mechanism of action of lead molecules and drug candidates.
  • Stay current with the latest scientific literature and industry developments in the field of targeted protein degradation and degrader antibody conjugate.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of experiments, methodologies, and results in electronic laboratory notebooks and database.
  • Present findings at internal meetings and contribute to scientific discussions to drive project advancement.

Qualifications

  • MS with 5+ year of industrial experience or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field (Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Biology, etc.) with a strong academic track record.
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and ability to independently execute, analyze, and report results of quantitative plate-based cellular assays (e.g. BRET-based assays, luminescence assays)
  • Familiarity with automation equipment (e.g. liquid handlers) and automated workflows
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, underpinned by a keen aptitude for critically evaluating and interpreting experimental findings.
  • Impeccable organizational skills and an unwavering attention to detail, readily adaptable to the demands of a dynamic research environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, fostering collaboration and teamwork within a diverse and multidisciplinary setting.

Company

Nurix Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule therapies designed to modulate cellular protein levels as a novel treatment approach for cancer and immune disorders. Leveraging Nurix’s extensive expertise in E3 ligases together with its proprietary DNA-encoded libraries, Nurix has built DELigase, an integrated discovery platform to identify and advance novel drug candidates targeting E3 ligases, a broad class of enzymes that can modulate proteins within the cell. Nurix’s drug discovery approach is to either harness or inhibit the natural function of E3 ligases within the ubiquitin proteasome system to selectively decrease or increase cellular protein levels.

Nurix’s wholly owned pipeline comprises targeted protein degraders of Bruton’s tyrosine kinase, a B-cell signaling protein, and inhibitors of Casitas B-lineage lymphoma proto-oncogene-B, an E3 ligase that regulates T cell activation. Nurix is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
