Our salesforce is our most significant resource to ensure our medicines benefit appropriate patients and has evolved to reach customers in new ways and bring greater value in the changing environment. As a District Manager or Sr. District Manager you will be expected to aggregate customer and market data and insights to effectively leverage and utilize multiple channels to drive total selling engagements across your team, with customer impact to best serve patients.
Midwest territory includes a portion of Ohio & Michigan. Preference for candidate to reside in Chicago or Detroit. This is one of the initial first line leader roles to be hired.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide inspirational leadership and strategic direction to sales representatives to achieve performance objectives in a compliant manner; this is accomplished by achieving field day requirements and through effective coaching, mentoring and utilization of resources aligned with organizational vision.
- Adherence to Idorsia’s compliance policies and procedures are critical. Working in a legal, ethical and monitored way, eliminating the risk when you or your team are interacting with HCP’s and other critical stakeholders. Ensuring team members are trained in a timely manner.
- By developing your team, you will drive business by observing your sales specialists’ interactions with key customers, providing him/her with individual coaching and feedback to develop them for success in current role and for future growth.
- As the district sales manager, you will be an expert on the disease state and product information, routinely and effectively modeling sales discussions and customer interactions as part of your coaching
- As a role model and a liaison you will inspire commitment, trust, collaboration and motivation for the shared vision by facilitating team communication, morale and effectiveness within your own district and/or cross functional teams.
- Actively seek to discover and meet the needs of internal and external customers by building relationships, identifying strategic business opportunities and delivering innovative solutions.
- Develop and monitor a comprehensive strategic district business plan, including specific, measurable, action-oriented objectives in accordance with regional and national goals.
- Thinks strategically by leveraging insights to create an HCP/account engagement plan, taking a dynamic and collaborative approach to maximize the business.
- Ability to identify innovation opportunities to maximize business impact, adapt as needed, and implement; use of multiple tools/channels to engage a customer/account to drive performance.
- Effectively manage district funds and resources and ensure their ethical, targeted allocation towards maximizing sales and return on investment.
- Align and clearly communicate the marketing strategy and ensure that it is implemented within your district according to the Good Promotional Practice guidelines.
- Assist in the development and support of brand goals, targets and priorities by working closely with key internal business partners, such as Brand Marketing, Strategic Field Sales Operations, Managed Markets and Sales Training
- Manage multiple priorities and resources related to individual and group efforts.
- Take responsibility for redirecting efforts as needed to deliver high productivity and quality of work from self and others.
- Demonstrates learning agility, flexibility and ability to leverage feedback to learn, grow, and evolve for impact and coach team for future success.
- Role model strong business ethics, understand basic business principles and interpret resources available to make sound business decision to help achieve standards of business excellence.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- District Manager: 5 or more years’ experience in pharmaceutical sales with 2 or more years’ experience as a front-line leader in pharmaceutical sales with demonstrated sales performance success.
- Sr. District Manager: 7 or more years’ experience in pharmaceutical sales with 3 or more years’ experience as a front-line leader in pharmaceutical sales with demonstrated sales performance success.
- Pharmaceutical sales experience in the cardiovascular therapeutic area.
- Demonstrated people leadership capabilities, financial management and written and oral communications skills.
- Understanding of the business drivers, dynamics, regulations and market access environment within the pharmaceutical industry; taking business ownership and accountability
- Ability to adapt, thrive, innovate, and have a growth mindset
- A valid driver’s license and safe driving record and the ability to travel up to 50% of the time, on average, including overnight.
- Must reside within the geographical boundaries of the district (Defined Geography)
- Must meet credentialing requirements for access to medical facilities, hospitals and academic institutions that are within the assigned geography, which may include proof of required immunizations and/or vaccinations, background checks and drug screens.
Preferred Requirements:
- Exposure and/or experience in other functional areas of the business (e.g. Sales Training, Customer Solutions, Sales Operations, Managed Care and Marketing) and use of multichannel approaches to reach the customer
- Sold or managed sales of specialty drugs before, including product launch experience; Nephrology, Endocrinology, and Hospital sales experience preferred
- New product launch experience
- Experience in territory

Pay Transparency Legal Requirement: Salary Range $150,000 - $190,000
