About the role:

As a member of Takeda Oncology, your work will contribute to our bold, inspiring vision: We aspire to cure cancer. As part of the Patient Advocacy team you will report to Head of Patient Advocacy and be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with US and global patient organizations, advocating for the needs of the patient community within Takeda, and advancing Takeda’s reputation as a science-based company committed to the needs of people living with cancer.

This individual develops and delivers hematology strategies and tactics that support the goals of Takeda and the patient community, partner with cross-functional teams to identify and address the unmet needs of people living with hematologic tumors and help alleviate barriers to access to care and treatment. This individual is also responsible for creating partnerships with pan-cancer patient groups. The position works collaboratively with US and Global cross-functional therapy area teams as well as Corporate Communications, Ethics & Compliance, and Legal business partners to help ensure company plans and decisions reflect relevant hematologic patient and care partner insights as well as the interests the company shares with pan-cancer patient groups

How you will contribute:
  • Develop and deliver on an innovative, cross-functional strategic approach to myeloma, leukemia, lymphoma, and pan-cancer patient advocacy and engagement aligned with Takeda therapy area priorities.
  • Cultivate enduring relationships with leading patient organizations to advance Takeda’s hematology priorities.
  • Leverage opportunities for cooperation with pan-cancer groups across the continuum in a strategic fashion.
  • Collaborate with patient community to generate patient-experience data that shapes clinical practice and advances access.
  • Enrich company meetings, training sessions, and other internal events with patient, care partner and advocate speakers and insights .
  • Ensure patients and care partners’ voices are heard to further access and value-related objectives.
  • Partner with regional and country teams to accelerate sustainable access to innovation. Identify and disseminate best practices to increase the impact of regional and country patient advocacy teams.
  • Advance Takeda hematology and pan-cancer priorities through compliant sponsorships and execution of program benefits.
  • Hold accountability for the annual budget related to hematology and pan-cancer patient advocacy initiatives.
  • Compliantly demonstrate the value and impact of patient advocacy programs and sponsorships.
  • Contribute to Global, regional, and country training programs for patient advocacy.
  • Adhere to relevant internal policies and industry regulations
  • Advance other OBU, above brand, and Patient Advocacy imperatives as requested.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • An undergraduate degree is required; a graduate degree in a relevant area such as nursing, pharmacy, social work, public policy, or public health is preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech company, including patient advocacy, government relations, R&D, marketing, market access, or an equivalent amount of experience in a patient, consumer, or professional association.
  • Prior experience in oncology is preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industry is required. Solid understanding of relevant regulations and guidelines (e.g., FDA, EMA).
  • Demonstrated ability to create buy-in and gain consensus and alignment across teams and individuals.
  • Exceptional oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with experience engaging with senior leaders.
  • Experience in working independently, often with tight timelines.
  • Solid business acumen with the ability to direct and manage vendors to ensure successful implementation of initiatives.
  • Strong budget management competencies and skills in successful negotiation.
  • Consistently represents the company with the utmost level of professionalism with internal and external stakeholders.

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$149,100.00 - $234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
