What You'll Be Doing: 

As an AI Architect, you will influence the adoption, maturation, and strategic direction of machine learning and artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and drive transformation for the Lilly enterprise. You will work closely with multi-functional teams to understand business problems and processes, operating systems, and various application architectures to design AI solutions. 

How You'll Succeed: 

  • Be an expert source on machine learning to drive delivery of new and innovative solutions 

  • Propose creative solutions to approach business solutions with emerging technologies 

  • Prototype new ways of applying technologies for solving business problems 

  • Educate others so that they can demonstrate the innovative methods for achieving outcomes 

  • Build and maintain machine learning principles, standard methodologies, and code accelerators 

  • Conduct external research and internal experimentation for machine learning techniques 

  • Champion solution delivery behaviors and approaches from software engineers that accelerate delivery of reliable solutions and create a culture of teamwork 

  • Analyze and communicate strategy, status, and product roadmaps to multiple audiences, including all levels of management 

What You Should Bring: 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in machine learning algorithms such as multi-class classifications, decision trees, support vector machines, and deep learning 

  • Proficiency with analysis, modeling, and interpretation of common and complex data structures, including query development 

  • Depth in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Foundation Models (FMs), and modern Large Language Models (LLMs) 

  • Solid grasp of probability and statistical models (generative and descriptive models) 

  • Advanced programming skills with C/C++, Python, Java, or R 

  • In-depth technical knowledge of cloud-native machine learning services (e.g. AWS SageMaker, Kendra, Neptune ML, etc.) and frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.) 

  • Experience in MLOps-enabled cloud environments 

  • Effective teamwork skills; work with team dynamic strengths and different viewpoints demonstrating the ability to influence peers 

  • Demonstrated application of agile methodology in design and delivery of solutions 

  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical development and the expanding role of technology in the industry 

  • Ability to lead and achieve results through others while also being an individual technical contributor 

  • Demonstrated broad and deep technology learning agility 

  • Prior experience working in a clinical/research setting 

Your Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred 

  • 5+ years of professional and/or postgraduate academic research experience in software engineering 

  • 2+ year of experience designing and developing machine learning solutions 

  • 1+ years of experience with cloud native engineering, AWS preferred
