This is a hybrid role on-site in Tarrytown, NY or Basking Ridge, NJ. Colleagues must work on-site 3 days per week and 2 days from home. A fully remote role is not possible for this position. Candidates that live greater than 50 miles from a work site would be eligible for relocation.
The Director, Development Program Operations, Business Process Management, will have a leadership role in transforming drug development processes via strategic initiatives that drive delivery of the portfolio and medicines to patients. This role is responsible for identifying, planning, and operationalizing cross-functional improvement projects, using data as the performance baseline, to optimize our Development Operating Model.
These initiatives require strong matrix leaders with drug development and business acumen and are passionate about applying robust strategic change execution methods and best practices. The role will need to anticipate business needs through strategic planning and trend analysis and with alignment of key stakeholders across Development with interfaces in Research, Manufacturing and Commercial. The role operates with a continuous improvement mindset to enable cross functional operational efficiencies.
Additionally, the role will lead one or more cross-functional Business Process Owner Networks to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and compliance across end-to-end integrated processes.
This role is a hands-on contributor responsible to build relationships at all levels of the organization in order to solicit and action stakeholder input regarding the Development Operating Model. This role will navigate the fast-paced and agile environment of Regeneron in a collaborative and innovative manner.
In a typical day you will:
- Identify, create and drive strategic initiatives related to the Development operating model with direct impact to drive Development portfolio and pipeline
- Partner with Program and Portfolio Management (PPM) Leadership Team and Development functional areas participate in organizational planning, prioritization and optimization of projects and processes
- Design and implement the operating cadence, including running coordination meetings, project updates and overall oversight of projects and their milestones
- Collaborate with cross-functional process owners as the Process Owner Network Lead to ensure compliance and effectiveness of the operating model
- Leverage Business Process Management lean methodology to streamline and transform multiple processes into an integrated model that is continuously improved
- Work with Development and PPM Leadership to define innovative operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the projects and services delivered, tracking these KPIs across the department and projects to ensure goals are consistently achieved
- Build strong, interdependent partnerships and manages the communication effectively with functional area heads in Development, key stakeholders in Research, Commercial and Manufacturing
- Responsible for the training and mentoring of more junior department members in operational excellence and lean business process management methods and skills
To be considered you must hold a Bachelor's degree and 12+ years' related pharmaceutical industry experience with a minimum of 5+ years in business process management experience required. MBA preferred.
Significant experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry with a strong understanding of drug development activities
Proven experience in a similar role; expertise in Operational Excellence, Change management, Six Sigma/LEAN and business process management methodology required
Proven leadership skills with the ability to innovate, drive and deliver framework and change in a matrixed environment, amidst ambiguity
Strong analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to negotiate, influence and work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership
Excellent communication skills (written/verbal), including presenting complex information and insights effectively
IT proficiency with MS software, project management tools and process mapping tools
Ability to travel (<10%)
