Responsible for the implementation, support, and maintenance of automation systems in the Dry Products Packaging Lines and for ensuring an overall state of compliance as it relates to executing tasks that could be either strategic or tactical concerning business needs. Ensure that process automation solutions/systems are in-control, capable, and compliant.
Responsibilities:
Support the Process Team Agenda
Ensure a safe working environment by following safety rules and helping improve the safety culture.
Actively participate in safety-related activities (audits, JSA’s, hazard reviews, etc.) to drive ongoing safety improvement.
Take overall responsibility for the safe design and safe operation of the equipment within the area.
Understand equipment code/recipes.
Perform or provide oversight of code changes.
Work with the process team to define requirements.
Ensure all qualification activities are appropriately executed and documented.
Define the scope of activities when changes are implemented as part of the process team agenda.
Participate in identifying the return to service criteria for equipment after interventions and / or maintenance.
Conduct / participate in all impact assessments in relation to changes to the equipment to ensure the integrity of the equipment’s qualification state at the conclusion of the change.
Have basic understanding of interfaces and data flow.
May lead small-scale projects or programs.
Provide Technical Oversight
Ensure changes to control systems, maintenance and other interventions do not have an adverse impact to the qualification state of the equipment.
Define the scope of requalification activities when required due to changes or identified trends in the asset qualification monitoring activities.
Support the process team by overseeing the implementation of process improvements.
Oversee the ongoing asset qualification monitoring of direct impact systems to verify that they remain in a state that is fit for the intended use.
Assist in identifying key elements for return to service of control systems after interventions and/or maintenance.
Site Expectations
Serves as a key automation resource within the Process Team
Communicate effectively with others, especially process team members, customers, and engineering team.
Obtain technical expertise of equipment and processes in area of responsibility. This includes clear understanding of equipment flow chart/process flow document, and critical process parameters.
Lead medium-scale projects or programs with moderate risks and resource/financial requirements for improvement opportunities (procedural changes, upgrades, projects, etc.) associated with equipment within the area.
Provide floor support for unscheduled downtime of equipment / processes.
Implement corrections, corrective actions, and countermeasures arising from CAPA’s.
Lead or participate in IQ/OQ/PQ activities (including commissioning activities of new equipment or areas).
Develop scope for capital projects targeted at both short and longer term needs.
Act as user representative for capital projects or delivery agent for local projects.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in STEM field (Electrical Engineering preferred)
1 year of Automation experience preferred (manufacturing experience preferred)
Additional Preferences:
Previous experience as a process automation engineer or process engineer is desirable.
Pharmaceutical experience is desirable.
Computer System Validation experience is desirable.
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work in a safe manner to ensure the safety of self and others.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to be able to work effectively in a team-based environment.
Responsible for leading by example in safety, working safely and accountable for supporting all HSE Corporate and Site Goals.
Additional Information:
8 hour days, after-hour support.
Occasional travel may be required for training, conferences, capital projects, etc.
