The Position

The therapeutic area Operations Lead is responsible for supporting the therapeutic area One Impact Planning process, ensuring strategic alignment and consistent therapy area vision / messaging between marketing, medical, and market access. This role will also oversee and manage all therapeutic area-specific business operations processes to ensure effective planning and execution – ultimately playing a key role to drive success for the business.

 

Relationships

Reports to the US Integrated TA Strategy Lead. Collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, medical affairs, market access and policy/advocacy (MAPA), regulatory affairs, and other relevant NNI departments to ensure alignment of therapy area objectives, strategies, and marketing promotion. Act as a liaison between marketing, medical affairs, and market access. This role will have direct reports supporting TA operations functions (e.g. agile coach).

 

Essential Functions

  • US therapeutic area Strategy and Alignment: Drives the development of a One Impact Planning strategy to optimize the therapeutic area product portfolio, aligning with the overarching corporate goals and market dynamics. Ensure strategic alignment across functional areas to have one cohesive therapy area voice in how we engage customers. Leverage analytics and market research to inform strategy and opportunities for growth
  • Business Operations Management: Develop and implement efficient business processes to support therapeutic area objectives. Oversee day to day operations of the therapy area, including P&L budget management, resource allocation, and performance tracking. Collaborate with cross functional teams to streamline workflows, optimize resource allocation, and drive continuous improvement initiatives along with various therapy area communications/global/NNI decisions/support
  • Risk Identification and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate any issues that may impact therapeutic area business operations processes
  • Resource Optimization: Lead the formulation and oversight of the therapeutic area budget, optimizing resource allocation for development and commercialization activities
  • Performance Tracking and Monitoring: Develop KPIs and metrics to track business operations processes and strategic initiatives that execute against strategic objectives. Prepare regular reports to communicate performance trends, insights, and recommendations
  • Analytic-Driven Optimization: Utilize data analytics to provide data-driven insights, monitor and evaluate the performance of therapeutic area operations, and report to the executive team for strategic decision-making on operational optimizations to ensure financial sustainability and growth
  • People Development and Coaching: Responsible for setting and communicating clear individualized role expectations for each report based on position, skills, talents, and objectives. Ensure that reporting personnel have strengths-based individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business. Provide regular coaching of reports that prioritizes appropriate challenging, development, feedback, regular recognition, and support

    Physical Requirements

    Hybrid Policy: 3 days in the office, 2 days remote.

    Approximately 15-20% overnight travel.

     

    Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • 12+ years of experience, including demonstrated history within commercial operations required. Experience with local and global operations preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical / life sciences industry including medical, regulatory, and clinical processes
  • In depth understanding of disease landscape, treatment modalities and market dynamics within therapeutic area preferred
  • Experience leading brand strategy development through expert understanding of market and industry
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate insights into strategy
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence senior leaders and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization
  • Embodies leadership behaviors, including authenticity, servant leadership, will, empathy, decisiveness, a growth mindset, and driving focus and simplicity
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Ability to manage complexity, including leadership of work across competing priorities
