Summary / purpose of the position
The Medical Information Manager is a member of the US Affiliate Medical Affairs department. The Medical Information Manager is an office-based professional who is responsible for the creation and maintenance of medical information content that will be used to appropriately respond to unsolicited medical information requests for the Ipsen US products The Medical Information Manager will be responsible to identify the need gaps for responses creation and/or data generation needs.
The Medical Information Manager will have clinical knowledge of IPSEN’s products, and the therapies associated with them. This person can serve as a therapy area and product expert for both internal and external customers. This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, and updating local medical information content. The medical information responses must be accurate, current, fair- balanced, and of high quality. This role also collaborates with global MI affiliates in order to share best practices. This role reports into the Medical Information and Patient Safety Head for the US Ipsen affiliate.
Main responsibilities / job expectations
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
Content Management:
- Acts as a subject matter expert for one or more therapeutic areas (TAs)
- Maintain current familiarity of published medical literature relating to Ipsen products.
- Proactively develops and updates local medical information content that is current, complete, medically accurate, and fair- balanced.
- Uses the Veeva system, for Medical Review Committee (MRC) review/approval of medical information content.
- Maintains current medical information content in the Medical Information Database (IRMS database).
- Performs complex scientific literature searches in response to specific requests as well as on a proactive basis. Effectively shares this information with internal stakeholders.
Supports Organization:
- Interfaces with Global Medical Information and US Medical Affairs colleagues to exchange medical information and best practices.
- Participates and collaborates on project teams to represent Medical Information for the therapeutic area(s)
- Acts as a resource to support the Medical Information Call Center to help respond to escalated queries that require a custom literature search and/ or response.
- Conducts training sessions for the Medical Information Call Center and other internal business partners on medical information content (medical information letters, FAQs, etc.)
- Provides training to Commercial Personnel on our medical information processes.
- Promotes and ensures the sharing of best practices for Medical Information content management.
- Completes all assigned SOPs and training within designated timeframe and adheres to job-specific SOPs and work instructions.
- Attends and staff’s medical information booth conferences to respond to unsolicited medical information queries from HCPs as appropriate providing fair, balanced and medically accurate information on Ipsen’s products.
- Participates in coverage for MI inquiry management after business hours.
- May assist with Ipsen’s Medical Affairs PharmD Fellowship program.
- Identifies, obtains pertinent data, and forwards adverse events (AEs) and product quality complaints (PQCs) to Ipsen Call Center in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Assists in generating medical information metrics and insights.
- Participates in the content materials review process.
- Performs other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Compliance:
- Complies with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff.
- Ensures that provision of primary literature to client’s internal and external customers are compliant with copyright regulations.
- Maintains appropriate files and documentation as necessary for regulatory compliance.
- Ensure activities are carried out in a compliant manner at scientific meetings and congresses.
Knowledge, abilities & experience
Education / Certifications:
- Advanced degree in life science/healthcare (Pharm.D., PhD, MD) required.
Experience:
- 2+ years of Drug Information in a Pharmaceutical Industry Experience or related Clinical Pharmacy Practice/Managed Care Experience Required
- Demonstrated excellent medical writing skills to synthesize scientific data in order to create and communicate medical information content.
- Proficient in literature searching in EMBASE, pubmed.
- Previous experience in a Medical Information Call Center is a plus.
- Proficient in IRMS (Medical Information Database for Content Management) is a plus.
- Proficient in MS office applications.
- Relevant therapeutic background desired (Oncology, Neurology, Rare Diseases, Endocrinology)
Languages:
- Fluent in English.
Key Technical Competencies Required
- Proficient in conducting medical literature database searches.
- Proficient in medical writing for medical information response documents
- Ability to summarize medical literature/ accurately and appropriately (creating medical information response documents that are accurate, current, scientifically fair- balanced, and of high quality).
- Prior experience working in IRMS is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory authorities, legal, and industry guidelines and requirements related to the practice of medical and drug information in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

The annual base salary range for this position is $109,800-$134,200.
This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentives program.

The pay range displayed above is the range of base pay compensation within which Ipsen expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and demonstrated skills.
