Senior Research Associate, Analytical Development

The Role:

Moderna is seeking a Senior Research Associate in the Biomolecular Characterization team within Analytical Development. This role will support characterization of mRNA-based vaccines and therapeutics and associated critical starting materials via various analytical techniques including HPLC and mass spectrometry.

Heres What Youll Do:

• Support product characterization of mRNA, DNA, and enzymes through method development, implementation and test execution to enable characterization of structure and impurities.

• Work closely with other Technical Development teams to support critical starting material testing, process development, and analytical investigations

• Support analytical subteams for early and late-stage programs to enable characterization content for regulatory filings

• Support process development teams directly with method development and testing

• Contribute to departmental project goals within the team and across the Technical Development dept.

• Author and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) associated with MS test methods as needed

• Support transfer of analytical test methods to other internal test labs as needed

• Work independently with minimal supervision and direction

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:

• BS or MS with 2+ years of relevant industry experience in analytical chemistry.

• At least 2 years of demonstrated hands-on experience with liquid chromatography and/or mass spectrometry, preferably LC/MS and high-resolution mass spectrometry

• Experience with biological sample handling is preferred

• Organization and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

• Strong interpersonal skills with an eagerness to work with and support colleagues in other departments

• Ability to prioritize work, navigate through ambiguity, adapt to change and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication skills
