Position
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Chemistry Lab Support Technician 1 to join our high-impact team. As a Chemistry Lab Support Technician 1, you will play an essential role in ensuring the smooth operation of laboratory activities and assisting scientists in their research efforts. Your contributions will directly contribute to the advancement of our cutting-edge biotech initiatives.
About You
The ideal candidate for this role should possess hands-on experience in a Chemistry laboratory setting and be familiar with lab equipment and basic experimental procedures. This candidate is characterized by their strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow protocols and guidelines, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of experimental procedures and results. Their dedication to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient lab environment, as well as their proficiency in basic computer software for data entry, makes them a valuable asset in assisting scientists, setting up experiments, conducting tests, and contributing to the overall success of research projects.
What you'll do
- Basic equipment management and servicing such as routine cleanings, plan annual calibrations.
- Responsible for acquiring the skills to operate and resolve issues with chemistry related equipment, such as NMR, HPLC, LCMS, etc.
- Keep track of chemical inventory includes chemistry reagent registration, solvent stock
- Prepare chemical solutions for experiments
- Maintain chemical solution concentration for instruments
- Handle chemical waste removal and bulking
- Work collaboratively with the chemistry and environmental health and safety officer to ensure that all work is done safely
- Perform additional chemistry lab duties as required, such as sample preparation for assays
- Provide lab support to other functional labs as needed.
Qualifications
- 1-2 year professional experience in a relevant scientific field (Biology, Chemistry, or related)
- Must have critical thinking skills and be able to perform basic mathematics
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow protocols and guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot and collaborate in a team setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures
- Dedication to maintaining a clean, safe, and productive lab environment
- Effective time management skills and the capability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Willing to be on call for monitoring cold storage units

The expected salary range for this role is $25/hour to $27.41/hour depending on skills, competency, and the market demand for your expertise.
