Position Summary & Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant II has a role in month-end closing reconciliations, records general journal entries, and is competent to carry out assigned tasks while adhering to GAAP and other policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares general journal entries and reconciles related accounts

  • Reconciles subsidiary ledgers to general ledger and supporting documents

  • Prepares accruals, amortization schedules and monitors prepayments

  • Prepares reconciliation reports per General Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) in support of period end close

  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations pertaining to allowability, allocation, and reasonable costs

  • Code journal entries in compliance with applicable FAR statutory requirements

  • Assist with the work of external auditors, USG Accounting Consultants, and valuation experts

  • Payroll allocation and benefits journal entries

  • Invoice preparation in accordance with governing contracts, maintain register of billed and unbilled costs.

  • Fixed Asset capitalization and maintenance of associated documents, ledgers, and reports

  • Coordinates cross functionally with other departments to collect up-to-date information for period-end close and to drive improvement actions

  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls

  • Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential

  • Manage conflicting deadlines

  • Utilizes ERP and MS tools to prepare management reporting


Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with a comprehensive ERP system, MS Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Ability to read and understand contracts

  • Attention to detail

  • Consistently meets deadlines


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (B.S, Masters, etc.) in Accounting

  • 5+ years of work experience in Finance and/or accounting,

  • On-site or hybrid work preferred

  • Government contractor accounting experience


This position may also include the following conditions:

  • This role is primarily a Sedentary role. This can include exerting up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

  • Visual acuity (such as: working with data & figures, viewing computer terminal, extensive reading, etc.

Our target base pay hiring range for this position is $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year. Actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s geographical location, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge.
