Job Details
Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.
Position
We are seeking a talented and motivated Scientist 1, Platform Biology, to join our dynamic research team. In this role, you will work at the nexus of our Research and Engineering teams, applying advanced microscopy techniques to provide key data and drive drug discovery programs forward. You will become a champion of Eikon’s core platform, working collaboratively across teams to conduct cutting-edge research and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.
About You
The ideal candidate for this role is a highly experienced professional in the field of Biology, Bioengineering, or Biotechnology. This candidate demonstrates a strong background in experimental design, execution, and data analysis. They are proficient in laboratory techniques and equipment relevant to biological research and possess strong analytical skills for interpreting and communicating complex scientific data. Their excellent communication skills allow them to effectively convey scientific concepts, and they have a collaborative mindset, enabling them to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. They are proactive and adaptable to evolving research priorities and challenges, making them a valuable addition to the team.
What You’ll Do
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate possible therapeutic targets and advance them toward screening on Eikon’s novel high-throughput super resolution imaging platform.
- Analyze experimental data using scientific techniques and software tools, deriving meaningful insights and contributing to project objectives.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of experimental protocols, assays, and methodologies to support research goals.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams – including biologists, chemists, optical engineers, software engineers, and data scientists – sharing expertise, insights, and fostering a collaborative scientific environment.
- Stay updated on the latest scientific advancements and industry trends, integrating relevant knowledge into research strategies.
- Document research findings accurately and comprehensively, contributing to internal reports, presentations, and potential intellectual property.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or Master’s plus 10 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of relevant experience in Biology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience using quantitative microscopy to derive new biological insight.
- Proficiency in cell biology techniques including mammalian cell culture, transient transfections, stable cell line generation, and using siRNA/CRISPR for gene-knockdown/knockout studies. Experience using lab automation to run robust high-throughput cell-based assays is a plus.
- Proficiency in cell biology techniques including mammalian cell culture, transient transfections, stable cell line generation, and using siRNA/CRISPR for gene-knockdown/knockout studies. Experience with hiPSC-derived neurons and/or other hiPSC-derived cell types is a plus.
- Experience with advanced microscopy techniques (e.g. Single-molecule localization microscopy, structured illumination, FCS, or similar) not required but highly encouraged.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific data. Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, R, or other programming languages highly encouraged.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey scientific concepts effectively.
- Collaborative mindset with the capacity to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proactive and adaptable to evolving research priorities and challenges.
