Could you be our next Associate Director R&D Business Operations? This position is located in our King of Prussia PA office. It is a Hybrid role. You will manage direct reports. You will report to Sr. Director, Integrated Business Operations and R&D Chief of Staff.

You will lead the R&D Business Service Navigator (BSN) team, which will provide guidance and delivery to the R&D organization when engaging with third-party service providers. This service hub will assess all Sourcing requests, facilitate the contracting process on behalf of the business (initially for Professional Services), provide guidance and routing of additional requests, and partner with Enabling Functions to remove roadblocks in the process. As metrics and insights are gathered, the Navigator Lead will implement additional capabilities within the BSN Team to increase the effectiveness to the broader R&D organization.

Responsibilities.

  • Lead the BSN capability, working with the BON and Enabling Functions to implement efficient processes and accountable for performing the process and team members.
  • Facilitate the contracting process on behalf of the R&D Functions; including reviewing, tracking and execution of Professional Services agreements with all internal and external parties
  • Provide guidance to R&D personnel on how best to process other third-party requests, such as contingent workers, Key Opinion Leaders, and other Sourcing categories (e.g., Capital, Instruments, and Consumables).
  • Educate R&D Functions on best practices within Business Services and working with the Navigator team
  • Develop and compile metrics to demonstrate the level of service provided to the R&D organization by the BSN.
  • Develop strategies and recommendations for improving processes, expanding capabilities, and streamlining the operations of the BSN.
  • Identify service and capability improvement opportunities and lead plans for implementation
  • Provide regular reports to BON on the performance of the BSN.
  • Prioritize demand for BSN service, balancing specific functional needs with broader R&D needs; work through BON members to resolve conflicts.
  • Ensure communication channels are in place to R&D customers to provide transparency on request status.
  • Maintain relationships with both internal and external collaborators and partners across all geographical regions.
  • Build relationships and collaborate within R&D (all Functional pillars) and Enabling Functions (Sourcing, Legal, Legal Services, I&T) to enforce and improve BSN processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Science or Business Administration related field.
  • 8 years' experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry or experience in finance / business analysis.
  • Working knowledge in drug research, development, and manufacturing processes of pharmaceuticals (CMC, non-clinical, clinical, and regulatory).
  • Experience working with business operations software applications e.g. SAP, Ariba, Companion
