Manufacturing & Quality IT (MQ IT) supports operational excellence and productivity efforts through utilization of information and technology. This includes maximizing and exploiting existing systems at all levels, benchmarking and replicating as much as possible and using data to drive process improvements, productivity & increase efficiency.
This Dedicated MQ IT position will be part of the Global API MES Team. The Global API MES team is purposed to deliver and support Manufacturing Execution Systems through common Syncade (Software by Emerson) modules that enable manufacturing sites to deliver world class performance. This position will focus on the following key elements:
- Architectural and technical aspects of the MES solution
- Influence direction around Syncade Solution Architecture
- Partner with Emerson on technical assessments
- Understand needs of sites, prioritize, and translate into requirements
- Drive solution performance
- Proactively find and act on replication opportunities between sites and functions
- Coordinate with other IT teams to deliver capabilities as needed
- Managing impact analysis of solution changes
- Consultant to sites, solution SME
- Global object management
- Escalation points for Tier 3 support
What You’ll Be Doing
You will be partnering across sites to identify, develop, deliver, and support opportunities for streamlining and standardizing solutions and processes associated with the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for API Manufacturing sites.
How You’ll Succeed
- Utilize solid understanding of Manufacturing and Quality business processes in order to anticipate MES short term and future needs from an IT Architecture standpoint.
- Work with global MQ IT Architects, Enterprise IT Architects, local IT teams and other global teams to identify solutions to complex problems related to MES.
- Set direction through the formation of a strategic roadmap and evolution of the global design for API MES solution and systems interfaced to MES.
- Collaborate, influence and/or lead the definition of global MQ IT support and/or delivery processes.
- Provide deep technical knowledge, monitor solution delivery projects for compliance with the defined reference architecture and proposes and facilitates proof-of-concepts to enable clarity around future state direction.
- Collaborate with Enterprise IT Architects to research, identify, test, certify, select and introduce innovative technology products required for solution development and delivery.
- Collaborate with the MQ IT and Global IT Data Management teams to ensure understanding of, and alignment with Data Architecture Standards
- Actively collaborate with Cybersecurity and Protect Lilly teams to introduce operating principles for MQ IT MES systems, interfaces and architecture (e.g. proper patching process, LCM, software version control).
- Ensure IT vendors understand the Cyber Security and Protect Lilly requirements and are able to translate these into implementation specifications.
- Act as interface between IT and Business Partners on (or across) large projects and programs from a technical perspective (e.g. reporting, archival, performance, MES scope expansions).
- Keep outward focus to identify new trends and opportunities.
- Keep relationships with other large Pharma companies to ensure Lilly roadmap and decisions are in line and competitive with industry trends. Proactively build relationships with members of the Syncade User Advisory Board to understand how other companies address business needs.
- Lead and /or contributes to technology agenda for the implementation of Industry 4.0 in the MES area.
- Act as coach/mentor of global and local MES team members and others regarding technologies, architecture and technical design as appropriate.
- Lead Global API MES team technical design, solution development and deployment of MES architecture and tools in accordance with Quality and Security standards.
- Lead and/or assist Global API MES team in translating the design into implementation specifications. Designs and supports Global MES solution installation process, leveraging new technologies to minimize the sites’ outages.
- Lead and/or support development of business cases related to MES.
- Proactively influence the business to drive value and implement the appropriate technical solutions.
- Find innovative ways to leverage Syncade to drive business value.
- Coach/Mentor on technologies and architecture.
What You Should Bring
- Deep understanding of current API MES solution, Syncade, including its configuration, architecture and integration with other solutions, and how it is used to support the business processes.
- Deep understanding of GMP requirements and experience delivering within those requirements and constraints.
- Strong knowledge with distributed S95 Level 3 solutions, commercial configurable software (COTS) suppliers, and business intelligence
- Strong technical Skills: including infrastructure, interfaces, and configuration capabilities.
- Ability to thrive in a complex, changing, virtual environment with multiple manufacturing sites.
- Strong knowledge and depth across MQ business areas and Manufacturing IT application portfolios
- Strong understanding of global business process in the Manufacturing and Quality space, knowledge of the existing solutions that support these processes.
- Ability to take long-term strategic plan and break it into shorter programs and projects.
- Ability to influence others to adopt different points of view or concept and demonstrated ability to have a global view..
- Demonstrated ability to establish key relationships with those outside of the immediate business area.

Your Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field with a Minimum 5-10 years of relevant manufacturing IT experience
- OR
- High School Diploma/GED with 10+ years of industry experience in MES or MES Syncade Solution experience
Additional Preferences
- Technical skill in Syncade architecture and troubleshooting
- High level knowledge of Delta V or other automation/DCS systems
- High level knowledge of data movement across manufacturing applications
- Strong technical skill in:
- Syncade Architecture
- SQLServer DBMS
- Syncade Suite
- Load Balancing
- Knowledge on VBScript, Stylesheet, SQL, XML, C#, JSON
