Why Join Intellia?
Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.
Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.
We wantall ofour people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.
Senior Scientist, NGS Assay Development
We seek a highly motivated Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) Scientist to join the NGS+ team within Genomics Innovation (GxI). GxI provides state of the art genomics solutions, from screening of editing modalities, to developing and implementing NGS assays to characterize genome editing outcomes. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and execution of NGS assays and tools. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in genomics technology and hands-on experience with developing NGS-based assays, as well as a passion for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in genomics research.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the development, optimization, and implementation of NGS-based assays, including but not limited to, amplicon sequencing, single cell genomics/transcriptomics, long reads, and new sequencing technologies.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in NGS technologies and contribute to the strategic direction of their application.
- Design, execute and troubleshoot wet lab experiments involving sample preparation, library construction, and sequencing.
- Independently and in collaboration with colleagues, apply expertise to troubleshoot and support new project needs, serving as an NGS assay subject matter expert.
- Collaborate with computation sciences team to assess data quality, support data interpretation, and aid the development of innovative analysis pipelines.
- Collaborate with the high throughput amplicon sequencing teams to optimize existing workflows and develop next generation systems.
- In collaborating with biology and computational sciences teams to execute on experimental design, data generation, and analysis of custom genomics projects e.g. single-cell RNAseq
- Partner with automation, software engineering, and computational sciences teams, to scale new assays.
- Manage and mentor junior level scientists.
- Document experimental procedures, maintain accurate lab records, and prepare technical reports and presentations.
About You:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in NGS technologies, molecular biology, and assay development.
- PhD in Genomics with 1-4 years with directly relevant experience or MS with 5-8 years equivalent experience (industry experience preferred).
- Solid hands-on experience with NGS library construction, quantification, sequencing, and data analysis.
- Experience in managing or mentoring junior scientists.
- Experience with liquid handling automation (preferably Hamilton) is preferred.
- Experience with genome editing technologies (e.g. CRISPR) is preferred.
- Strong communications, documentation, and organizational skills coupled with exceptional time management skills and attention to detail.
Highly collaborative with the ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams.

Company
Many of us pursuing work in the biotechnology industry are inspired by a loved one who is living with a disease or the loss of someone in our community. Rare genetic and oncological and immunological diseases not only affect the people living with often debilitating and life-threatening symptoms, but these disorders also significantly impact their families, friends and caregivers.
Our researchers work tirelessly to harness the genome editing technology CRISPR/Cas9 for human therapeutic use. Jennifer Doudna, an Intellia co-founder, and Emmanuelle Charpentier were awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their pioneering work in CRISPR. We at Intellia are humbled to have a hand in making what we believe to be medical history. As a leader in this space, we take this responsibility to patients seriously.
We are employing a modular genome editing platform to create diverse in vivo and ex vivo pipelines, spanning a range of therapeutic indications. Guided by this full-spectrum approach, we are committed to making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to creating novel engineered cell therapies for various cancers and autoimmune diseases.
