About this opportunity:
We are seeking a Senior Manager of FP&A to help grow the Freenome Finance team. This position will support planning for key business processes and requires strong financial reporting, planning and modeling skills and solid business acumen to serve as a Financial Business Partner to various functions across the organization. This role is reserved for someone who possesses exceptional forecasting and quantitative technical skills combined with strong communication and collaboration skills. Those who will qualify for this position are both technically sound and can be a proactive internal consultant, beyond their analytical prowess through their understanding of secondary data, industry knowledge, and track record of innovative and impactful decision support.
The role reports to the Vice President FP&A and is a trusted advisor to our executive team. In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work onsite in our Brisbane, CA office at least 2-3 days per week.
What you'll do:
- In partnership with the VP of FP&A, lead company-wide business and financial planning processes (monthly and quarterly reviews, budgets, forecasts, and business case analysis) with a focus on simplification and on driving robust decision making
- Lead the overall corporate planning processes for all budgets and quarterly forecasts for your assigned client groups, as well as consolidating company-wide figures
- Build and refine the forecasting tools, short-term and long-term forecasts models
- Create effective performance metrics and dashboards to drive accountability and ownership
- Deliver financial analysis to identify opportunities to invest, reduce costs, and mitigate risks
- Ensure resources are aligned with strategic and operating priorities and clear financial controls are maintained
- Identify key business issues that impact short-term and long-range market forecasts; clearly and pro-actively surface these issues
- Develop insights and recommend actions to manage any deviations from plan through analysis of business financial performance, understanding of key drivers, and identification of root causes of variance
- Collaborate with the broader organization to drive process and systematic improvements across the Company
- Support Accounting team in monthly and quarterly close procedures and analytics
- Prepare materials for presentations to the Audit Committee, Board of Directors, Investors and Freenome leadership
Must haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business
- Minimum of 8 years of FP&A experience as a business partner in a fast-paced, high-growth biotech, diagnostic, medical device environment
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves, handle large amounts of data and build complex financial models
- Possess a growth mindset, and continuously seek out information across multiple data sources and disciplines to drive stronger performance and results
- Strong analytical background with the ability to independently solve problems with creativity and a data-driven approach
- Ability to articulate complex financial concepts in understandable terms to non-finance professionals
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically while maintaining a command of the details
- Extremely well-organized, and data-driven
- Exposure to and proven experience building key financial management processes, management reporting, and financial discipline as required in a scaling organization
Nice to haves:
- MBA or CFA
- Experience as a FP&A professional for single-site labs (FDA/CLIA diagnostics business) and/or reagent manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of clinical diagnostics development, operations, portfolio management and commercial GTM planning
Benefits and additional information:
The US target range of our base salary/hourly rate for new hires is $157,675 - $242,000. You will also be eligible to receive pre-IPO equity, cash bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered.
