Job DescriptionObjectives:
Work with the Global Medical Unit Head (GMUH), medical functional leads, immunology leadership, and global launch excellence teams to conceive and craft the multi-year vision for zasocitinib (TAK-279) in dermatology.
Provide scientific support aligned with the Global Program Team (GPT) and global brand strategy, incorporating cross-functional strategies (e.g. Commercial, Regulatory, and Region/country medical partners, and others, as appropriate).
Lead development and execution of the global medical affairs (GMA) strategic and tactical plans, in collaboration with GMUH.
Lead the development, execution, and regular (annual) updating of the global KOL engagement, CME, and advisory board/consulting plans.
Serve as global medical expert and steward and custodian of scientific knowledge in collaboration with scientific communication partners.
Be recognized as global medical subject matter expert (SME) with both internal and external audiences.
Establish the Global Medical Lead as the Takeda trusted Global Medical partner, establishing, developing, and growing science-driven strategic partnerships with external experts, academic centers, and centers of excellence.
Accountabilities:
Work with the GMUH on defining and implementing the GMA strategy, life cycle management, including e.g. strategy for publications, congresses, customer interactions, and the focused scientific communication for the disease area, aligned with overall product strategy and regional and local medical strategies.
As delegated by the GMUH, lead functional (e.g. publications, medical communications, medical training) and relevant R&D teams in developing plans.
As delegated by the GMUH, collaborate with commercial partners to ensure aligned and medically appropriate commercial strategy, planning, and execution.
As needed, provide medical review to global promotional and non-promotional materials.
Act as a company representative interacting with external scientific leaders, patient advocacy groups, and/or regulatory authorities.
Establish appropriate strategic partnerships with centers of excellence and KOLs in company’s areas of scientific interest.
Provide Global Medical review of content & materials, as needed.
Provide Global Medical leadership on cross-functional workshops and projects (including, but not limited to access, insights, patient strategy, digital).
Work with the GMUH & global medical strategy & operations (GMS&O) lead on budget setting & monthly accounting.
Support design and execution of clinical studies (phase 3B/4, disease registries, epidemiological studies, outcomes surveys, etc.) in close collaboration with the Therapeutic Area Unit (TAU), Global Medical Evidence, global evidence and outcomes (GEO), GPT, and external partners as required.
Serve as global medical representative on standing and project-based cross-functional teams.
Support local medical colleagues on key local or regional medical projects.
Serve as a key medical resource on the disease area and on specific programs; maintain a high level of expertise on the disease area.
Develop and maintain knowledge of global pharmaceutical regulations, guidelines, codes of practices and Takeda policies related to all medical activities.
As directed by the GMUH, develop, conduct, or participate in therapeutic training programs for Takeda internal departments.
Oversee medical review and approval of promotional and meeting materials.
Interaction and Collaboration:
Act as a company representative with external scientific leaders, policy makers, patient advocacy groups, and/or regulatory authorities.
Develop, support, and prioritize a global KOL engagement strategy for the respective diseases.
Per medical strategy, establish and/or enhance partnerships with key academic institutions and develop relationships with key thought leaders.
Per medical strategy, establish appropriate partnerships with KOLs in areas of scientific interest.
Represent global medical affairs at internal and external meetings.
Planning, designing, managing, and executing medical advisory boards with excellence.
Present scientific and medical data on asset / therapeutic area.
Position is accountable to GMUH.
Internal: medical sub-team of the respective assets’ GPT.
Internal: TAU, commercial, market access, publications, and other sub-teams.
External: academic, professional, regulatory, policy, patient advocacy leaders, strategic vendor partners.

Representation of GMA and contribution to a range of internal functional groups.
External stakeholder management and engagement.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD or PharmD).
5+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical medicine, preferably within a matrix or franchise structure.
Experience in medical affairs is required, preferably in a highly active and competitive medical therapeutic area.
Experience working in cross-functional teams at the brand or disease area levels in country, regional, or global organizations is preferred.
Experience in the disease area of interest through clinical (patient care and/or clinical trial) experience, biopharmaceutical experience or education is preferred.
Other:
Availability to travel approximately 25% of time (domestic & international).
Some activities may call for early or late meetings and attendances at scientific meetings on holidays and weekends.

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$169,400.00 - $266,200.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
