Brief Job Overview

This is a professional level position wherein the incumbent will be responsible for a mixture of key and new account management related to a biologic therapeutic portfolio. The incumbent will be responsible for working closely with marketing to execute on strategies and tactics developed to increase customer base and meet revenue targets. The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating and leveraging other Strategic Customer Development (SCD) Managers on a global account level to execute on growth strategies and to work directly with their regional team lead for direction, priorities, and revenue goals. The incumbent is responsible for driving revenue and reporting results on a frequent schedule, including taking actions as necessary to overcome challenges.

The Biologics Business Portfolio Development Manager has the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute account plans that incorporate growth strategies and specific goals to meet revenue targets for both current and new customer account management.
  • Understand the assigned territory numbers (revenue and units) explicitly, customer segments, along with drivers and barriers for growth and de-growth trends through data analysis. Keep track of the progress to goals on a quarterly basis.
  • Work closely with BIO team to support execution of strategies to increase revenue and provide recommendations on how to improve strategies and identify growth opportunities.
  • Where appropriate work closely with other SCD Managers on global key accounts to share best practices, insights related to drivers and barriers, and provide recommendations on overcoming challenges.
  • Responsible for identifying, capturing, and influencing key decision makers and influencers to choose USP products and services while gaining an understanding of customer needs and how USP may meet those needs.
  • Responsible for being proficient at interpreting sales data, territory analysis, and product portfolios in search of opportunities for growth including customer pipeline initiatives.
  • Work closely with Inside Sales team to develop Account Plans and growth strategies for current customers and prospecting mechanism for potential new customers of USPs biologic therapeutic portfolio.
  • Responsible for being proficient on all new and existing products within the biologic therapeutic portfolio and adjacent products and services.
  • Staying abreast of market conditions that may impact customer accounts and their purchasing behavior.
  • Collaborate with other USP teams with respect to customer engagement objectives, both short, mid, and long-term revenue.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Travel can be up to 50%, both domestic and international.

Who is USP Looking For?

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:

  • Two (2) to five (5) years-experience as a sales account manager providing account management to biopharmaceutical customer base.
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, or Molecular Biology.
  • Experience executing on growth strategies to drive revenue in the biologics field.
  • Experience working within a CRM (e.g. Sales Force).
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communications skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with customers.
  • Proficient in data analytical skills to understand and track financial performance.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate data and prepare reports related to territories and areas of focus as routine.

Additional Desired Preferences

  • Business degree or related field a plus.
  • Experience using data analytical platform (e.g. Tableau) a plus.
  • Experience with regulatory, quality assurance or GMP background a plus.
  • Strong account management skills required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with customer-centric approach.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced multi-task environment.
  • Salesforce Proficiency.
